Bits was good!? What? IMO that show sucked the biggest out of the lot. Do not get me started on it. I did have high hopes for it though, I was after a decent games show since Gamesmaster died, Bits didn't do it though.

shaky start with the vacant blond, granted.

but... series 2 and 3 when it got into stride, and had two worthy presenters, it was actually good. The production company was on a roll also producing Vids at the time.

Maybe you tuned out too early? The last series was pretty dire I'd admit.

Yeah, I have to give that to you Papercut, I watched the first series and not an episode after. Vids was awesome, they still do that show over there?

No sadly, it ended a few years ago (2000?), which is a total crime. Vids rocked hard.

Nigel does the odd review for the Sci Fi channel now, and Stef is back working in the video shop according to Emily Dunn.

Shame Vids fans weren't as obsessive as Bits fans, or else we'd have an archive of clips to reminisce about. Both shows were directed by the same bloke I think.

Oh yeah, i used to like bits, and i still catch gamesmaster on challenge tv if i can (mmm . . . sky). But what was that bit about patrick moore with that green shell superimposed over his head? eh? EH?

btw, imo gamesville on sky one is an absolute travesty

Clearly the worst show of all time was when Gamesworld was revived in 15 minute long segments on that toss Sky Channel dot.tv or something. It was around 96/97ish I think.

Big Boy Barry couldn't decide if he was using his real name or not, and had the worst clothes sense in the world.

It was on the same PC channel which had Will Hannarahan asking questions like "So, what powers a PC? magic?".

The best games show ever was the one-off Thumb Candy with TV's funnyman Iain Lee (an over-grown sixth former in a suit if ever there was one).

He met Mathew Smith and beat the creator of Space Invaders, Tomohiro Nishikado, at said game.

All the while wearing a t-shirt bearing the legend:

                              10 PRINT "Iain is skill"
                              20 GOTO 10
                              RUN

                              Skill.

"Well, dr Robotnik comes and a boss battle starts..."

Cut to sonic running again...then a Japanese Ninja jumps burst out of a cage and shoots a laser beam out of his forehead destroying every one!!

Funniest thing in the world, though I guess its only funny if you know what I'm talking about.
Yeah, they changed the ending so that he'd get his answer wrong. But he still won every round, so in the end they changed the game in the final to one he'd not played yet as it wasn't available in this country, but the other bloke (who was the presenter's best friend) had played solidly for 3 months.
Cheating was the only way they could beat the guy.
                                Dave Perry was that good!
