Aye, could be. There are three ways they could go about resolving it:

    1) It's really time travel (I think that'd be lame in an MGS2, Ocelot-has-Liquid's-Arm/mind-without-any-explanation kind of way).
    2) The events didn't happen. Desmond was knocked unconscious from turning the key and the Black Smoke has played with his mind.
    3) He experienced flashes of the past and future, but while those events were still fresh in his mind the Black Smoke jumped inside his head and played about with what really happened, blurring fantasy and fiction.

The latter would probably be the more interesting as you'd have the best of both words (pure sci-fi and the mystery elements people approach the series from).

One idea I did have when watching the episode is that maybe other (all?) characters have experienced the entire incident before?

The bit that struck me was when Desmond predicted it would rain which is exactly what Locke did in season 1.

Well that was a pretty crazy episode.

Don't know what to say really. The jewellery store woman has played with my head

thing is people keep trying to find hidden meanings in stuff

though i doubt the makers would have thought about it that hard

i do wonder how they are going to resolve it all i will say one thing IF THEY DO A IT WAS ONLY A DREAM ENDING I WILL PERSONALLY HUNT THE PEOPLE DOWN

I've forgotten, but was Desmond's woman the person the two guys in the research station called when they detected the shockwave and got the co-ordinates?

It's a writers dream, isnt it!

They could write something really shallow and trivial and the fans make the coincidental links, declaring the writers geniuses! (?)

Found this on another forum, looks like Desmond has been time traveling, or at least that's what they want us to think. Compare the pictures:

From a different timeline I'm assuming?

That woman in the ring shop freaked me out big time - awesome episode and very needed at this point. No doubt it's events will be forgotten about now until the next season

Very good episode, had me gripped from start to finish! I did notice that in the picture Desmond has now was different to the one he got taken though...

What was up with the London Southbank - they managed to be across from Big Ben but next to the Greenwich tunnel entrance.

Is it possible that the bad London scene was on purpose as it was all in Desmond's mind? And why didn't he confront Charlie about meeting him before? Then you get the other inconsistencies in his flashback regarding people and items.

What does all this point to? Is it multiple timelines all getting confused, or is it just all in his mind? I'm assuming there must be a grain of truth to it as that woman is trying to track him down. How does she know about the magnetic aftershock thing though unless Desmond managed to tell her about it during one of these time loop things?

If it was time travel why would getting smashed with a cricket bat send him back? Unless the cricket bat was traveling at 88mph

Perhaps it really was his mind making it up as a very lucid dream during the time between the hatch imploding and him waking up in the jungle. Although that doesn't even remotely explain how he got there, why he didn't have a stitch on, or how he can now predict the future.

Does anyone have a screen grab of the guys who were monitoring for the magnetic aftershock thing?

And yes, the guys call Penelope Widmore when they've noticed the anomaly. The same Penelope from the latest episode.

But how can they both have a copy of the same photo when they only paid for one and they broke up soon after?
