let's face it though, it's mostly filler anyway... not much seems to happen or is explained which just makes me less likely to watch it for weeks on end as i learn nothing new.
i'll just watch select episodes of it. it's pretty ****ing boring to me now, and i absolutely adored the first few episodes.
I still enjoy the show but they could really pick up the pace a bit. (okay, a lot)

Nah...the Lost fansites have analysed this to death and the general consensus is that it's not him. However, some do think it's Alva Hanso.
So did anyone else notice these:
The nurse that asks Jack if the patient is ok to administer his own medical is the same nurse that prepped Locke before his kidney removal.
The cages are for the polar bears.
Jacks pager said 7:15:23. Not sure why they didn't go with 8:15:23. Probably the writers taking the piss.
The hydra hatch logo is actually based on the real creature, not the mythical beast, which has regenerative powers which theoretically means it should live forever! This adds to the whole 'life extension' experiement thing.

From the look on his face, and hers infact, and it seemed like she wasn't very happy with what was about to happen...
meeting without Ben knowing, hence her reaction to being busted with a book in her hand and him saying "So I guess I am outta the book club". This small exchange spoke volumes about their relationship which was built up further as the episode went on. She seems like a woman who is letting herself be told what to do, waiting for her moment to take some action. Maybe the Book Club had had enough of Ben and were plotting while fearing they were being watched - but now that the plane has crashed on the island (instead of landing as the autopilot was meant to do) they have had to put their plans on hold?
Thats how I saw that bit anyways. Great first episode - happy they mentioned the
survalence sharks and the Polar Bears
The bit when
Sawyer gave her his fish biscuit was very sweet.
Ahhhh.

My wife did see an interview with Matthew Fox who did get himself in a spot of bother for letting slip that they were signed up for 5 years...
Now, whether that means 5 years in total or 5 years from the time of the interview, (during Series 2), is not known, but I do think it would be a good run for such a quality series.
From the end of Series 1, I was hoping that it wouldn't run too long and either end up losing it's way or being cancelled because some execs can no longer be bothered with it. I personally thought 3 years would be a great run for the story though I'm sure 5 would work with the expansive storylines, keeping it tight, keeping everyone hooked and have a fantastic ending and go against most other US shows that just run and run and just eventually peter out.
A lot of people I know have given up already and can't be bothered following it and waiting for answers to things from Series 1 which they have pretty much forgotten anyway.
As much as I love LOST, it is really beginning to annoy me and do not want to see it go the same way as ALIAS, which went from strength to strength thru Series 1 to 3, sort of went a bit iffy in 4 and just crumbled as a cut short Series 5.
If the team who make LOST have any sense, they will keep it short and sweet, but we all know that money can change a lot of minds in this industry...
Sorry, just my lil comments... carry on all!

Episode was not too bad, i like all the flashbacks about Jin and Sun I find it interesting to see the way her father has affected their lifes and occasionaly you get a wee glimpse of her breaking the rules
Still your right rossco more questions and no answers
However
It was interesting to know that the timescales of Jin and Sun leaving Japan seem to be quite close after she did the monkey shuffle with the other man, maybe he is the father of the kid.
Also how much english does Jin know?!?!

I quite enjoyed S3E2, but I have to say my heart sank when I saw it was a Jin episode, particularly starting with her
as a kid! I thought they were going to force childhood episodes on us now to spin things out further.
Bit frustrating that we didn't really learn that much more in the back story. The whole boat hijacking was incredibly predictable and its hard to suspend your disbelief when we've been told so many times that Sayid was a pretty double tough army bastard.
I don't know why, maybe its the break, but the first two eps of this season have been better than I remember S2 to be. But, its so annoying that at the end we learn more in a few minutes about the Others than we have done in the preceding 45 or so. And then its the titles.
I honestly don't know if they're just making most of it up as they go, but surely the writers can see why they're being accused of just stretching this out for as long as they can? It just seems like they need a bit more focus. Anyway, its definitely good to have it back, but they really need to start moving things along a wee bit faster IMO.
And yes, do we need spoiler tags any more? I'm sure we had this discussion in S2, but the problem is that for those of us watching the US episodes, its fine, but for the UK peeps it could easily ruin episodes in the space of a few posts. Unless we have a US and a UK thread, where you know what you're going to get come the day after a new ep airs, but then maybe that's overkill.

I think one of the problems may be, that if they say, went a few episodes without flashbacks and just concentrated on the story as such, people would expect that to continue. They set out the stall for how the show would be from day one, they won't change it now.
Personally I don't think the pace has changed from day one to now, but I will admit that the story is getting more and more twisted almost like white lies, to the point where to bring it all together now would be impossible.
