Spiderwick Chronicles - way too good for kids. A few good 'jump' moments in there

Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs - a bit freaky with a nausiating theme of humans wasting stuff. An eco warriors dream movie. Dreadful.

G-Force - I was expecting this to be guff but was surprised to find it a decent action movie.

Watched Twilight at the weekend, which I have to say I quite enjoyed. For all the James Pattinson fawning I see/hear I just assumed it would be horribly soppy, but it didn't seem too bad in that respect.

Also saw Chinatown, which I've never seen before but have been meaning to watch for some time. Thoroughly enjoyed it and was genuinely shocked at the way it ended.

Also, why can't I ever watch just one film? They're like biscuits to me - I can't just have one!

Saw The Men Who Stare at Goats and 2012 over the past few days... 2012 was pretty but repetitively boring (its was worth it for the pretty tho) and TMWSAG was not what I hoped for.

Not having a great time of it at the cinema lately, maybe my Cineworld Unlimited has spoilt me

Just finished watching Shoot-Em-Up on bluray. Which i picked up new for a fiver.

I have to say i was pleasantly suprised, really silly action flick. Some great inventive ott action setpieces.

I was almost ashamed to say I loved that film when my brother got me to watch it... I figured it would be awful. Went straight out and bought it on bluray as its easily a showcase for HD viewing whilst being jolly good fun all round

How often do you need to 'showcase' HD viewing? Do you live in a branch of Curry's?

Not Quite Hollywood: A pretty recent documentary about the Australian exploitation film industry of the 70s and 80s. It's a pretty unheard about area of film that's just coming to prominence now, and there were tons of clips of the wild special effects. Practically everything appeared to be set in either a seedy bordello, a haunted house or the outback but a lot of the films looked genuinely entertaining and there were tons of clips. Quentin Tarantino features as a hugely enthusiastic talking head, blabbing on about how much he loved seeing the movies when they came out, and how he considered so and so to be a poor man's Ridley Scott, and so on. Interesting and well put together.

Just watched District 9 for the first time, what an excellent film. Loved it.

Just finished watching Tora! Tora! Tora!. Amazing film, really impressed. Honestly didn't expect the action to be up to much but I thought it was incredibly well done, apart from some of the major battleship impacts which were straight from Thunderbirds.

I think I actually enjoyed the first hour more than the second though, building tension to the attack. It really illustrates how far we've come since then (And quantum leaps since the film was made even) in terms of being able to communicate across long distance.

I also like that it didn't really demonise the Japanese a great deal. Can't imagine the film was too popular when it was released, at least in the US.

I watched the Largo Winch film last night, it was really good. Reminded me lots of Casino Royale, I can't see why it hasn't had an english release most of the film is in english.

I watched the new Star Trek film last night, i've never seen any star trek before in my life but i thoroughly enjoyed it, and i even got most of the references to previous films/series, just got a new 50" plasma (upgraded from a 32") and it looked stunning on it, i'm glad it was the first film i decided to watch on it as the visuals were stunning.

If you've never seen Star Trek how on earth could you understand when it was referring to the other shows/movies?
