I watched Let Me In on Sky last night.
To my annoyance I missed the airing of the original on Film4 a few weeks back so thought I'd still give this a go.
Last thing I remember about reading about Let Me In on various forums was the general snobbery that `it's not as good as the original` blah, blah, blah. But without having seen the Swedish version I have to say I really enjoyed this. Nicely shot and quite a sad film in many respects.
But it did strike me how infinitely watchable that girl from Kick Ass actually is. She's a very good little actress.

Made me fiend for a current-gen version of The Getaway, it did, a lot of London still looks the way it once did.

I'm sure if you haven't seen the original, this is really good. It's a well made film, good acting. Still, the original is superior. Even the subtitles add to it, making it seem other-wordly. Plus it doesn't have the horrible CG **** that ruins the attack in the tunnel

I liked Real Steel. I'd have been jizzing all over it had I been nine years old again, or maybe a bit older...
I felt like crying most of the movie, not because of the father/son relationship I never had, but because of how much it ****ing pisses me off knowing I'll never be able to own my very own fighting robot. The movie is supposed to be set in 2020 and they have to be seriously taking the piss, they might as well have made it 3020 because I bet by then we won't have robots like that. It pisses me off.
Where are we today? That stupid Honda robot that SUCKS BIG TIME? Those stupid Sony Queerios that got DITCHED because they are ****ING ****? Yeah, they have eight years left to really turn the tables around.Last edited by dataDave; 10-10-2011, 10:15.

1903 - first powered flight.
1961 - first man in space
1969 - first man on the moon
It only took around 50 years to go from flying through the air to flying through space. And only 8 years after that before we were on the moon. Technology moves exponentially quickly.
We'll have robots like that come 2018 I reckon. Easy.
Besides, you're looking in the wrong places. Forget the civilian sector, look at the military sector. The Sarcos suit is just a hop skip and a jump away from the remote controlled things in the ring. We're close, real close.

And I think we all know the thing which propels technology advancement more than anything is something we should avoid if possible. A little something called War.
