    Sad but true.

I blame nukes. If it wasn't for their threat, cost and effectiveness we'd still have conventional battlefield warfare between nations with huge drone-like tanks, walkers, and jets. Robotics would be at an unimaginable state right as we'd probably have been through WW3 by now if it wasn't for the nuke threat.

I know where to find all the nice stuff like the DARPA big dog and their RC beetles they have, but it's still hundreds of years behind anything humanoid in my opinion.

Just watched on old 80s slasher flick called Pieces. Would love to report that it was loads of gory fun but it was dull, stilted, not that gory, really, and had a frankly implausible (if wince-inducing) ending that negated the 'realism' of the entire film. Blood Feast has better pacing than this, and that is saying something.

        PS:

It was Edmund Purdom, Edmund Purdom did it!!!

Mr Poppers Penguins - 10/10 on the Jim Carey films with Penguins scale.
You know what to expect. Happy fun overall.
          THE PENGUINS GO POO POO!

Throw an Aardman skin on this and all of the posers would jizz all over it.

The Company of Wolves, fantasy period horror telling of the red riding hood story, hints of American Werewolf in London, all star cast (Angela Lansbury!), some excellent effects/model work, worth a go.

I saw RED ,The Losers and The Lincoln Lawyer.

I enjoyed The Lincoln Lawyer, but it's your usual law and order court story. It was a good story, so if you like that kind of thing, it's well worth checking out.

RED was really good fun. It was more about Bruce Willis' character than the trailers made out, but I still enjoyed it. There's plenty of action sequences, most of which are quite inventive. There's one chase in particular where Bruce steps out of a spinning car whilst still shooting and it's amazing!

It's a little sad to think he probably just stood up from a chair in front of a big green screen, but it does look great.

The Losers was good fun too. A little bit like a less-ridiculous A-Team. The ending was totally set up for a sequel though, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Throughout the whole film-making process, they all must have been thinking this isn't going to be a complete story, just a first chapter.

If there's something to blow up, it'll blow up and in hi-def slo-mo. However, none of the team go full retard...

I didnt like RED at first and turned it off half way, my mate convinced me to keep watching and it just got better and better until I was lol at the end. The Willis/Urban fight about 3/4 through is nice too. For me Malkovitch stole the movie. The bird who Willis fancied was annoying as hell and had a weird looking face.

Loser was decent, anyone else find it funny we had so many espieonage/shadow op/betrayal type movies come out in the same year? Losers, RED, A-Team, Salt, Im sure theres loads this year too.

Saw Warrior last night, surprised how good it was. Quite an enjoyable and pacy film. Not as many slow bits as the trailer suggested. Nolte was superb, its a shame he gets typecasted as a white trashy type wash out, I suppose because the media try to portray his real life as being the same . . . not sure. Anyway its worth a watch, not a million miles away from The Fighter. Some bits did get me when father son were confronting each other. Definetly not half as cheesy as it could of been, everyone was very well cast and suited to their roles, including the older bros Mrs who could;ve ended up whiny and annoying but wasnt at all.

Watched Woody Allan's Midnight in Paris with Owen Wilson. Whilst I would not normally go to the cinema to watch this type of film I must say it is shot beautifully and must be seen at the cinema to fully appreciate.

The characters are likeable and acting is spot on. Martin Sheen plays a know it all and the banter between Owen and Martin is excellent.

Then, after midnight the film takes a twist. At first I didn't get it but the more it went on the more I understood what the film was about. At the end I was left warm, happy and glad I watched it. I won't explain much more as it might spoil the film but I will say different people will enjoy it for different reasons.

Will be buying it when it's released on Blu Ray.

Senna. Totally brilliant and some amazing on board footage. I didn't really appreciate the politics at the time as I was too young but I certainly remember the San Marino GP in '94 and the clips of that part remain sickening to this day. The film gives you a real appreciation of his skill. Fantastic.

Tonight, Tallageda nights, watched in simulcast with my Norfolk main man Neil2k. Dip**** started well before me so was texting the best lines before I heard them though! Then watched RED. First time I watched this I fell asleep shortly in as I was a bit pissed. This time round, tremendously enjoyable, i'm surprised i've read a few really negative reviews. Now i'm ready for a third, so going to go for one of my all time faves for the first time on Blu though, Dazed and confused. A film about pretty much nothing, but I just love it. The fact that the girls in it are awesome has no influence...............

Heard a few people talking about Red lately. Got it online on LoveFilm so may watch it tomorrow and see what it's all about. I watched Prince of Persia the other night. It was alright. Bit gash in places with some poorly delivered lines quite often but it was well made up by the presence of the absolutely gorgeous Gemma Arterton!

As a follow up, watched dazed and confused, (again!) still one of my top three. It's like a document of my youth then my initial time in London. A beautiful film.

Yeah, RED was good fun that was worth seeing. Look out for the "He really is CIA!" car chase, that was my fave bit.

A few people on here recommended Unthinkable, so I watched that Friday night...

Blimey, it's not Friday night viewing, is it? Phew! It wasn't a bad film, just a bit traumatic. We wanted to know what would happen at the end, but it was tough going. My wife even had disturbed dreams afterwards
I thought it was going to based on this comic, also called unthinkable, because of the terrorist link:
Following the attacks on 9/11, a young horror writer named Alan Ripley finds himself working in a government think tank founded to defend the U.S. from worst case terrorist scenarios dreamed up by creative artists like Alan. But years after his participation, the doomsday scenarios Alan imagined start coming true. Someone is using Alan’s ideas as actual terrorist plans, and it’s up to him to discover these persons and stop them before the “Unthinkable” happens.
Last night we watched The Box which is directed by Richard Kelly of Donnie Darko fame. I was curious about the premise, despite getting fairly duff reviews, but sometime you need to make your own mind up.

I thought the first half was pretty engaging and some of the elements of the second half were spooky but ultimately it loses its way and is tied up quite scrappily. I thought it would have worked well as and Outer Limits or Twilight Zone episode. When the end credits rolled, it revealed that it's based on a short story by Richard "I Am Legend" Matheson and that was re-written to be a Twilight Zone episode!

The plots are practically identical, but The Box picks up from where the Twilight Zone episode finishes and raises too many unanswered questions and logic seems to leave the room.

Has anybody else seen it? What are your thoughts on it?

Just saw Captain America: The First Avenger, Thought the intro and back story was well told and executed, however (as usual with Marvel studio films) the build up and action scenes were so so, esp especially at the end. Theres only so much coolness you can get from chucking around a vibranium shield. It needed more imagination. Some of the Hydra stuff came across as Captain Nemos shizznit in the league of extraordinary gentlemen. As great as Weaving was as the Red Skull, I felt he wasnt given enough to do to come across as really EEEVEL! They could've given him some better lines and scenes. Joe Johnston delivered his usual Indy-esque WW2 old skooly drama feel that he replicated in The Rocketeer and JP3. Another thing, I think the effects for when the Captain was a 90 pound weakling were amazing and deserve a flipping oscar. I think they should've heightened his voice a little as he did look a little funny sounding so manly when he had the body of a boy. All in all I think it was decent, definitely better than Thor.
