Last week I watched two fairly decent films.

Amber Lake: A bit of a murder mystery with 3 wacked out sisters all giving different accounts of events, a sort of which one did it type movie with some twists, getting near the end I thought I had it figured out and expected a predictable ending but the twist ending I didn't see coming which was good.

Everything Must Go: Will Ferrel sort of comedy but not, it wasn't a funny film but one of those which keeps your interest and I actually think I prefer him in these kind of parts rather than his more slapstick comedy, it was worth watching.

Watched (Synecdoche, New York) this week and my brain still hurts.
Love the work of all actors involved in this and of course the director/writer Charile Kaufman, yet again confirming for me that I can watch Phillip Seymour Hoffman in anything and enjoy it.
A tough film to keep up with that I feel the need to watch again.

@ k0pp0: I still haven't seen Ponyo yet. Actually, the only one on that list I've seen is Laputa. Wow, I need to catch up. How can I not even have seen Totoro yet?

@ctn: Blimey, it read like the kind of thing I wouldn't mind seeing

@ mikewl: I saw Everything Must Go and I know what you mean about him in these sorts of films, I loved it. I really liked Stranger Than Fiction, too.

Finally got round to watching Human Centipede 2.

I had low expectations since I really liked the first. It's fantastic, I didn't feel let down by any aspect of the film. Really glad they didn't over produce it. I had a big dirty grin slapped on my face throughout.

(New) Karate Kid - very plain but not as dreadful as I was expecting. The teen/young adult drama they force on the little kids make it a hilarious film.
When Chan grabs the kids arm it looks like a penis. That is all.

Just watched Get Him To The Greek. Really enjoyed Forgetting Sarah Marshall, thought that Russell Brand as 'Aldous' was a super-fun character for an Apatow rom-com, and was really looking forward to this, what with it being centred purely around him and his decadence.

I was a bit disappointed, it was OK but didn't quite do it the way it should've, it felt strangely 'detached', much preferred FSM, maybe I was expecting too much. Puffy was good in it, though, surprisingly.

Yeah I'm sort of the same with GHTTG, OK but nothing brilliant. I think it's maybe the other guy in it alongside Brand that I don't like (the one from Superbad), I just don't find him that funny or watchable.
There are some great moments in there like when Brand refers to Lars Ulrich as "Sandman" and the whole Jeffrey scene. Why can't everything be as simple as stroking the furry wall?

Watched Lost Boys again the other night. It was half as good as I remember it.

Watched the new Johnny English yesterday. VERY slapstick and rather silly, but did have some clever moments and was enjoyable enough.

I watched The Ghost starring Obi Wan Kenobi and James Bond.

It's about a ghost writer, not a spooky story about a sightings of a ginger Scottish guy who died exactly one year ago to the day.

It was actually funnier than I thought it would be. It's not strictly a comedy, but there's humour in Ewan MacGregor's predicament.
Directed by Roman Polanski, it's interesting enough to watch to the end, but part of you wonders why he's bothering to do so much investigating.

Legion - better than I expected. Not too bad.

Watched The Way Martin Sheen walks the Camino de Santiago, its quite nice film, very scenic and has a nice balance to it, i'd say I really quite enjoyed watching it.

We watched The Next Thee Days, starring Russell Crowe.

It's about a couple who's life is torn apart when the wife is wrongly accused of murder.
After several attempts to prove her innocence fail, the husband decides to bust her out!

Ridiculous and far-fetched, but very watchable. It was interesting to see how if his crazy scheme would work out.

The Hunger (1983). Vampiress Catherine Deneuve attempts to seduce body clock scientist Susan Sarandon after previous lover (David Bowie), discovers that her promise of everlasting life was not all that it's cracked up to be. Tony Scott directs, one of the most luxuriously shot movies i've seen in a while, to excess in some cases...which makes up for the lack of pace, infact the cracks in the story and characterisation are covered up by the quality if the imagery. Deneuve is amazingly sensual opposite Sarandon, quite a moody affair, probably recommend.

                              watched three movies this morning

                              Apollo 18
Kinda like paranormal activity series in space with

                              spider rocks

not a headlining cast but has two actors that i like in Scfy tv shows (Alphas & Sanctuary) but otherwise pretty pap to be honest, i kinda knew it was going to be garbage from the start anyway but i thought i would give it a chance

                              Columbiana
pretty decent revenge romp with some good action stuff and Zoe Saldana just looks lovely in it, watching the credit's it seems Luc Besson wrote it and i've always like his films anyway so glad i liked this

                              30 minutes or less
I loved Danny McBride in Your highness and was looking forward to seeing this and even though it probably wasn't as funny as i thought it was going to be it was still a funny decent movie with just a crazy storyline, Fred Ward was also a nice surprise would was as good as he was in Tremors

                                also watched

                                Killer Elite
Based on a book by Ranulph Fiennes called the feather men which was a secret society of ex special forces and when the book was released it made the governement rebut anything that was in the book they took it that seriously, anyway im a bit of a fan of Jason Statham and the fact Robert De Niro is in with with Clive Owen made it something i fancied watching and its a pretty decent movie, Statham does all his usual stuff but its an action movie which an actual storyline which is something statham doesn't generally have - give it a viewing, plus it's set in the 80's so the music is awesome
