Such a good action piece though and it makes me sad that a lot of action scenes these days are ruined my too much CGI and not enough proper stunts and real speed.
I suppose Deathproof is the most recent great chase but even that didn't seem as fast, maybe down to the setting as you need more traffic etc to get a sense of the thrill.
Fast Five has the last great chase I have seen in it, the end of that film is jaw dropping. I thought Unknown with Liam nesson in it had a great car Chase too.

Watched Hellboy II last night. Never read the comics but have to say I?m really fond of the films. They?re over the top in all the right places and the monster designs are splendid - surely the best array of misfits since Total Recall.

I watched Black Dynamite which is a comedy pastiche of Blaxploitation films.

It's got a lot of things going for it, but ultimately it's not the sum of its parts. I don't want to put people off because it's a fun time-waster of a film.

Michael Jai White is great in this! He plays the part of Black Dynamite just right - a lover, a fighter and a mean mother shut your mouth.

Some of the fight scenes are great too. MJW is an accomplished martial artist (see Undisputed 2 or this deleted Kill Bill 2 scene) and displays some impressive kicks, flips and nunchuks skills.

The soundtrack is great too and a lot of effort went into making it sound as authentic as possible, although I'm pretty sure they repeatedly sample The Detectives from The Two Ronnies! I reckon you'd love the soundtrack, Jazz Funk!

The script is full of jive talk and there's some great lines, my favourite being:
Your knowledge of scientific biological transmogrification is only outmatched by your kung-fu treachery!
I think I'm Gonna Git You Sucka is a funnier film, but this is definitely chucklesome.

After hearing some of the suggestions you guys made in the Blu-ray - What's your benchmark disc? thread, I bought the Alien Anthology when it was cheap at Amazon and watched Alien.

I'm pretty sure it's only the second time I've seen it and for a 1979 film, the effects are stunning. The film itself is also awesome, obviously, but I'd forgotten most of the earlier scenes. I knew how it ended but my heart was still racing in some of the later scenes! Fantastic film. I'm not sure when I'll get around to watching to 60 hours of extra features!

For me, Black Dynamite went on too long. Each scene is really amusing, but it should of been significantly shorter.

I still haven't finished it(sounds like a book!), I think I got as far as the car chase. Favourite bit was just before the chase when they're having the fight and the guy accidentally hits the other one in the face who gets really pissed off, then it cuts and he's been replaced by another actor

I hated Black Dynamite because it had so much potential but didn't live up to any of it. The opening was good, it had a good cast, everything, except I didn't find it really funny at all. Everyone has a different sense of humour so it's hard to agree on a comedy, but I was perplexed at how many people seemed to like it.

                Tintin. Absolutely brilliant.

The reviews its been getting are frankly bizarre. In fact if I was Spielberg, I'd sue them!

Anyway, its a wonderful, joyful tour de force and basically the film Indiana Jones 4 should have been.

Gah! I'm absolutely knackered and want to go to bed, but i've been watching battle royale on film 4 as i've never seen it. Normally I can't be bothered with foreign language films but I want to see how this pans out. If it has a crappy ending i'm not going to be happy................

It sure does have a crappy ending!

Yeah, it wasn't the brilliant film that people have had me believe.

The premise is good, it just goes nowhere. It's actually awful.

                            The New Guy

Far better than I thought it would be. Still bad, but in a good way, plus Eliza Dushku

I watched the Burma Conspiracy last night, I liked it very much, on par with the first one.
