I watched Killer Elite last night as well.
I normally dislike Statham flicks but this was okay but completely forgettable. de Niro puts in another piss poor performance.

Kung Fu Panda 2 - Didn't like the first, same with the second.

Young People ****ing - Okay. Only watched due to the lass from Insecurity is in it. The lass from Popular was also in it. Double score.

I'm curious how different this is to Peckinpah's 1975 original.

I'm confused that the remake is based on a novel by Ranulph Fiennes, not the one by Robert Rostand like the original?

after reading IMDB they sound like two different movies with the same title, well one is the Killer Elite and the other is Killer elite so sounds like a new movie instead of a remake of the 1975 one

        the killer elite
Mike Locken is one of the principle members of a group of freelance spies. A significant portion of their work is for the C.I.A. and while on a case for them one of his friends turns on him and shoots him in the elbow and knee. His assignment, to protect someone, goes down in flames. He is nearly crippled, but with braces is able to again become mobile. For revenge as much as anything else, Mike goes after his ex-friend

        killer elite
When his mentor is taken captive, a retired member of Britain's Elite Special Air Service is forced into action. His mission: kill three assassins dispatched by their cunning leader.

Managed to catch 3 films at the cinema on Thursday, not done that for years

TinTin - was OK. A great single shot chase sequence towards the end was the highlight. Rest was OK. 3/5.

Anonymous - only watched this because it was sat in the middle of the 2 films I wanted to catch. Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Another 3/5, but a higher 3/5 that TinTin

Machine Gun Preacher - very good film. True story! Horrific at times. Came out looking to donate something to the guy it's based on. 4/5

          Also a few BluRays:

Bronson - fantastic! Not really sure I'd class it as a Movie, more an Acting Showcase. 5/5

Red - second viewing for this, and it's still fun. 4/5

          Not seen any stinkers recently

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Decent watch. Amazingly they didn't **** anything up.

Drive - Okay. Some nice elements but not worthy of the high praise.

Bellflower - Bit of an eh.

Went to see The Rum Diary, thought it was good, ended abit abruptly but overall a decent watch.

Immortals is good popcorn fluff with some crazy moves, heads exploding and the like. Much better than 300 which is the obvious thing it'll get compared to. Mickey Rourke chews up the scenery with his mad crazy King. He and his army have lot of S&M themed armour which is freaky as fark! A bit like Mad Max 2 meets Hostel 2.

The soundtrack is full of horns, booms and crashes, Im sure one to crank up the home theatre with later. Its a lot more classily shot as well IMHO, I think the director wanted to capture a baroque'esque feel to it and I must say he's done well.

The biggest success of the film is lead, Henry Cavil who plays Thesus and really has the classic smooth Heston'esque build and charisma to pull off the role 100%. He performs some crunching moves as well as gets thrown around a fair bit too. After seeing this Im really looking forward to Superman as Im a lot more confident he'll do a great job of turning the role into his own and become this generations Reeves. I know us oldies claim there'll never be anything as good as Chris Reeves as Superman but watch Immortals and give this guy a chance. Surprisingly for a good looking chap he doesnt want me to hate him like I do with most modern day hollywood actors. Fieda Pinto is still annoyingly skinny hoe who needs a good slap but you cant have everything I guess. Still got Rise of the Apes to go through with his miserable f'ing face

Basically the movie is highly entertaining but a forgettable enough affair in that the plot is predictable. Its just an enjoyable ride watching everything reach its conclusion. Theres a hint towards a sequel at the end which I guess Im in favour for.

I watched Submarine last night. No idea what all the fuss was about. It was watchable but nothing more and at times I really wanted to reach into the screen and slap the little wet muppet who plays the lead.
Don't look at me, I'm irrelevant.

Knowing on CH4 at the weekend. Sub-M Night Shyamalan 'thriller'. Best avoided although some funny moments and ok-ish special effects.

Looking forward to G.I. Joe on Saturday.

EDIT - Oh, and St Trinians on Sunday. Mainly just for Tamsin Egerton though and Arterton

I really like Knowing, tho I do have a fetish for plane crashes in movies. G.I.Joe is surprisingly decent IMO.

Yes, the plane crash was the ok moment I referred to

I know it's not a film, but back in the day, the Tempus Fugit/Max two parter of the X Files, where the plane gets 'frozen' in mid air as a passenger is abducted, followed by time 'unfreezing' and the passengers getting sucked out of the door, was a superb piece of tv.

Is Knowing the one with the burning train that goes past when they are waiting at a level crossing? Thought that was quite clever.

Did my boyfriend duties at the weekend and watched Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1. The best thing to do I've found is to compare it to the other films in the series rather than films in general as on the wider scale they're truly awful films with horrendous acting, bad editing and poor direction. Compared to the other 3 films it still doesn't hold up well though being Part 1 was always going to hold it back. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's the worst (New Moon still takes that) but it's close. Only one more, lol
