Watched Thor yesterday. Wasn't awful but wasn't great. For a movie with fancy Asgard locations and frost giants, it felt sort of small and cheap. And its tone was a bit all over the place. It was the last of those Marvel ones for me to see and the first that I thought, this only exists to get another character into Avengers.

I watched the bluray of Thor last night actualy and on second veiwing I still really enjoyed it and thought that it was a fantastuc introduction to the character and world.
Yes it set up the Avengers but also set up the Thor franchise as well. Plus it had proper superhero fights in it with people being knocked about all over the place. The bit with the giant robot thing is the best action scene in any of these Marvel films period and overall it was just a brilliantly fun film (though not quite as much fun as Captain America).

Yeah, I preferred Captain America by far. I think part of the issue for me with the giant robot thing was that I was just never sure how to take Thor's buddies. They could have been in The Princess Bride and that's the tone issue there. They seemed to be more comedy than Norse but I really wasn't sure what they were aiming for.

As for Gosling, I felt like I was with him and knew what he was thinking the entire way, so maybe you just missed it but he was fantastic anyway.
other than the fact he tried to save the ex-con husband when he got in a fix with the Alabamian loan shark, but then again he was only doing that to get with his wife so really not that good natured
.
I think most blokes want to be/look like the driver because of his "kool" (gay) looking jacket and leather gloves LOL

Also saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes and really enjoyed it. I thought it was going to be sh1t but it was very well thought out and executed. James Franco has this thing of looking uninterested in the films he's in (I havent seen 127 hours mind) in case they're pants and he can bail out, I think this is why he probably wont be in the sequel. Anyway look forward to number 2, hope more gorillas get taken out with bigger bullets in slow mo again, that was gold!
