That pretty much sums up the movie.

Rooney Mara is much more how I imagined Lizbeth Salander than Noomi Rapace in the original.

Third Narnia film yesterday. The boy who plays Eustace was aces.

Machete - classic old skool. Loved it. Any movie with the Alba, Rodriguez (of the female "M" variety) and the Lohan all at times only partially clad can only be great. Only bummer was to see Segal trying to bust the moves of yesteryear. You can see he still has it somewhere in him, but in that fat unit of a body, it's just all wrong (and a real crying shame as he is such a legend).

I really wanted to like this more than I did, just felt that Rodriguez could have done better. I would probably go as far to call this his weakest film (excluding the kiddy stuff).

Surely was better than Planet Terror?

                Couldn't finish that one.

Watched Machete on a double bill with Expendables so my quality standards may have been low.

That's the thing. I LOVE Planet Terror for all its cheesy lines and over the top action and expected Machete to be more of the same, only it wasn't. Would quite happily lose Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez and the poor story for some added Planet Terror stupidness.

I don't understand the logic in spending millions of dollars to purposefully make a bad movie. I don't consider it clever.

Worked for Mars Attacks. Hang on... no it didn't! Yeah, I agree to some extent. I can kind of get what Rodriguez was going for and I think there's some merit in the idea (taking a real b-movie and taking it to da max with a decent budget) but I still think it has to be a good film.

I'm glad I never watched Planet Terror or Death Proof at the cinema, I'd have walked out half-way through and felt majorly ripped off.

And I certainly won't be watching The Expendables 2.

                          Triple bill of grimy ****e.

1st off: The Meltdown Memoirs. A 2hour+ documentary about the making of Street Trash, and it is the best f*cking DVD extra about a film I love I could ever think/hope for/of/. This is *really* superb.

2nd off: The Last Great Wilderness. Weird little verrrrry low budget The Wicker Man-style film, except it's more like a Magnus Mills novel. It was alright, not bad, goodish, probly the only film that sums up traversing a jaded British guesthouse so well(!)

3rd off: Moral Kombat. Horrible American documentary about the 'morality' of games. I love the Oddworld games but this doc *sucks* making "him" the spokesman for this ****. And "he" seems quite comfortable in that role. Basking in godness. Wack. Wacker than Jack Thompson,in fact.

Haven't watch Planet Terror yet so cannot compare. I took Machete for what it was supposed to be & 'cos of this I was able to enjoy it. It had absolutely no pretension of seriousness.

Planet Terror was great, Machette was ok, kinda fun but should really have been more ridiculous (the most entertaining bit was the abseiling with intenstines part).

I don't think either film was made to be bad, just trashy.

I think something is only bad if it doesn't work, and they both worked, planet terror more so than Machette.

Hobo With a shotgun was really good too actually and that film actually worked becuase despite the fact that it was trashy, it had a big heart and a great main character.
