The thing I don't understand with these Resident Evil films is that the world is now decimated by the T-Virus.

99% of the world are zombiefied.

Why are Umbrella still operating? Who's buying their products to fund an underwater installation and the research that they're doing there.

Once they've perfected these viruses, who are they selling them to?

"Yeah, what we need is one of them Umbrella viruses to mash the enemy up proper style"
"What enemy? Everybody in the world became a zombie by the second film, and here we are, several movies in, still giving our business to Umbrella."

I don't understand how or why Umbrella are still operating.

The film kinda answers all your questions and expect maybe one more especially with the little bit at the end

Milla Doesn't have to phone Anderson, she lives with him doesn't she?, the unexplicable popularity of these movies has set their children up for life.

Incidentally I watched the new resident Evil CGI movie yesterday and as was the case with the last one it's a lot better than the live action tripe and actually resembles the types of stories that take place in the games too. Plus Leon is the main character, not some weird girl called Alice who likes to run up walls and do back flips every ten minutes.

I thought they were married and then split up

Nice to see they are still friends or maybe casting her in these movies is his way of getting back at her lol

The CGI movies have been better than the live action stuff to be honest

          Also watched

          starship troopers invasion
Gave up on it, doesn't suit it being CGI even though I understand it seems like its made for it but it looses all the charm when you don't have the cheesiness or the adverts that made me love the original so much, the CGI is good and you get to see CGI boobies if that's your thing - a let down and just doesnt provide substance and expected more

BTW Buster Broon its Paul Anderson not Wes. Although now that you mention it . . . . . these pants resi films should get re-booted by Wes as they'd probably be better.

Milla Jovovich is still listed as married on Wiki:
Jovovich currently resides in homes in Los Angeles and New York[100] with her husband, film writer and director Paul W. S. Anderson, whom she married on 22 August 2009.[101] The two met while working on Resident Evil, which Anderson wrote and directed, and in which Jovovich starred. Anderson proposed to Jovovich in 2003, but the two separated for a period of time before becoming a couple again.[102] On November 3, 2007, Jovovich gave birth to her and Anderson's first child, a daughter, Ever Gabo Anderson.[103][104] The child was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, one day before Jovovich's due date of November 4.[105]
The main issue is she's not met me.

There'd be marital probs in the Anderson home then.

Are any of the Resident Evil movies any good, aren't they upto 6 or something now? I've not seen any of them!

They have their moment, it largely depends on whether there's an idea for a film there each time or whether they're just badly homaging random parts of the game series.

For me, whilst the CG film (only seen Degeneration) is similar to the game CG's what works in the game can't support a film and it was even worse to watch than the live action films. I would dearly love a Resident Evil that was an actual horror.

They are not good at all if you are expecting anything like the games, and as special effects filled blockbusters that have nothing to do with the games they are average at best.

They feel very much a mash up of ideas, all suffer from major pacing issues, and have plots that basically throw everything but the kitchen sink at the viewer, they make no sense and are just a crazy series of sequences where zombies and mutant creatures fly about the screen while the main character runs up the walls, on the ceiling, and flying kicks zombie dogs in bullet time filled action sequences that simply exist because the director thinks they look cool.

So the short answer is no, not really.

                        The Abyss

Film4 were showing Avatar a few weeks back, so they also put on some other James Cameron films such as this and Titanic.

This is another film I'd not seen for ages. There's a lot less shooting than in many of Cameron's films and is possibly less memorable, but I still really enjoyed seeing it again.

The prime thing that stuck with me when I saw it as a teenage boy was feeling cheated that Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio gets a wet t-shirt and it changes from being a flimsy cotton thing into a thick woollen affair. Finally seeing her charms was poor compensation as she was

                        dead and receiving CPR

                        .

Anyways, this time around, I was able to focus on other things, such as the plot...

It's a very well structured story and I like the way the smaller elements of plot end up taking over and becoming the focus.

I was particularly moved by Bud and Lindsey's relationship when he saves her only for her to lose him not long after.

It's a shame Cameron doesn't seem to want to do any commentary tracks as he's interviewed beforehand and seems really passionate about his films, including this one and it'd be great to hear issues he faced whilst making it.

His thoughts on the pioneering CGI sequence with the "water snake"

A few scenes were cut, such as the mouse testing the liquid oxygen and the CPR sequence, but I'm guessing that relates to the time it was shown. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing the underwater rat scene, but I heard that the scene was cut in the UK because of cruelty to animals - the rat really was breathing liquid oxygen.

There's also an alternative ending that I'd not seen before, but this version was the one with the standard end.

                        Here's the alternative ending:

You know I've never seen The Abyss, it just looks so boring. Maybe I'll check it out one day, Im sure it had a greater impact during the time of release due to the state of the art effects but the plot never really appealed to me.

                            Oh, it's definitely worth seeing!

It's a long film, but it's definitely not boring.

It's a lot better than Prometheus, mate!

Is the rat sequence still cut in the Uk?

The uk one I think you saw it going in and that was about it, other versions you saw the rat drown before breathing thenliquid oxygen stuff
