Warner Clarifies Specs For 'Blade Runner'

Since that announcement, speculation has run rampant over just how much of the material on these mammoth sets would be presented in full high-definition. (Warner famously released the HD DVD edition of 'The Ultimate Matrix Collection' last May with the final two discs presented in standard-def, a fact that wasn't revealed until just days before that disc's release.)

This time around, the studio apparently going the full disclosure route, revealing to Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits that while all five versions of the film included on the next-gen releases are being mastered in actual 1080p video, all of supplementary materials (including the new documentary "Dangerous Days," and the deleted scenes) will be presented in 480p standard definition only.

According to Hunt, Warner says the reason for this has nothing to do with disc space on either format, but rather the compressed time schedule in which the various extras are being produced.

Francis Ford Coppola Goes All In for Debut Blu-ray Release 'Bram Stoker's Dracula'

Though Coppola and Zoetrope have already remastered most of the director's films in HD for release on standard-def DVD (including such classics as 'The Godfather' trilogy, 'Apocalypse Now' and 'The Outsiders'), 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' will be his first to hit next-gen disc -- as originally announced late last month, Sony plans to debut a brand-new special edition of 'Dracula' day-and-date on Blu-ray and DVD October 2.

Now comes word of the various special features to be included in this new edition, and -- unsurprisingly -- they include the participation of Coppola himself, with the director having recorded new introduction and audio commentary expressly for this release. Also included on the disc will be deleted scenes, four featurettes ("The Blood is the Life," "The Costumes are the Sets," "In Camera: The Visual Effects of Dracula" and "Method and Madness: Visualizing Dracula"), plus a special Theatrical Trailer for the upcoming Coppola film 'Youth Without Youth.'

I know it's an incredibly flawed film but it's one of the films I'm really looking forward to!

It's good to know that Coppola is already working on HD masters of his other films too!

I saw it at the pictures and loved it.

I don't know how it fairs to someone who isn't a fan of the series back in the day though. The only thing I didn't like about it was the style of the enemies, they don't suit the franchise. But it's a continuation from the live action movies, so they had to have new enemies I suppose. It's as good as any movie anyway.

I wasn't what I'd call a fan back then. I'd like to see it but I'm not really sure that I'm that bothered about owning it.

As for the film itself, I really enjoyed it personally, had some great moments. It did seem overly short though - seemed like it was building up to something huge that never really happened. Still, gorgeous.

Got mine for Movietyme last weekend. It's a stunning film in HD.

There are some parts that are just jaw droppingly good, even when not much is happening (some of the panning shots of the jungle in the beginning or the inside of the Turtles lair).

So if it looks great is quiet bits you can imagine how amazing the rooftop scene with Raph and Leo in the rain looks.

And the films pretty good if you're a Turtles fan too.

Although for some reason I was having a senior moment and watched the whole thing in stereo and not surround.

Still, gives me the perfect excuse to sit through it and enjoy it all over again

Yeah, Kudos for effort in that scene. The rain looks really good, I bet it took ages to render.

I'm actually looking forward to Disney Pixars Cars on Blu-Ray. I'm not into all kids movies honest lol. I watched a HD trailer for Cars on the Canadian Xbox Live Marketplace and it looked AMAZING. Already looked good on DVD in 480p, but in HD it looks even better. I think it's out in October on BR.

Lol when I started moving from VHS to DVD and seeing my collection of videos, I quite honestly said to myself "I'll only buy DVDs that I really want"...it didn't last though!!

It doesn't seem to be working with Blu-ray either, I can see myself having shelves full of Blu-ray films that I didn't really want to see but bought anyway!
