Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni ep2 - I've decided for the time being to stick with Triad's subs now that they've picked the series up. The second episode was great, less of the cute scenes I mentioned in the first ep and more of the serious scenes. This is already getting pretty creepy after just two episodes.

That girl Rena in particular is very creepy, loads of examples in this episode such as when she catches Keichi by surprise holding that big knife but I think she was even moreso when talking about secrets with Keichi. She even had a Kaede moment during the episode where she went mental for a bit. Also seems to be stalking Keichi now that she's seen him talking to strangers. I'd hate to be in Keichi's shoes right now, particularly now that she's heard the phone conversation he's had. The obvious thing would be to say that all the girls at the school are in on the incident with the rest of the village and now they know about Keichi they might target him(?). Will have to wait and see if that turns out to be true. I'm particularly interested in finding out what happened with that "incident" and all the murders since then.

Lot's more stuff to talk about as well, such as the cameraman dying/killing himself. Perhaps he got too close to the answers and someone wanted to get rid of him? Then there's that weird policeman who knew about Keichi and started giving him all this information, seems kind of suspicious to me. Not to mention the blonde lady, Keichi talks to, who's with the cameraman at the festival and somehow knows Keichi's name even though they've never met before. Plus there's the whispered comments in the classroom which included talk of that guy Satoshi who "transferred" out of the school before Keichi came. Wonder what happened to him? As he was reported missing.

. The art and animation is not the best(it's really quite simple, certainly not on the level of say Haruhi or even Ohran Host Club) not that they're bad just they could have been a bit better. So far the story and setting have been gripping, more than makes up for the deficiencies in other areas IMO and I'm already looking forward to the next episode. I've also grown to like the OP which is ace, ED sucks tbh too much engrish for my tastes. Fast becoming one of my most favourite new shows along with Haruhi, Black Lagoon and Ohran.

Keroro Gunso 10 - Absolutely hilarious episode I thought. Loads of Gundam references and stuff which I found to be funny. The narrator(same VA as sven from Black Cat I believe) is even funnier than Kyon from Haruhi at times. Top class stuff IMO. If you haven't started this series yet I'd suggest going for it, the first 7 episodes have been subbed by Soldats, ep8 by Keroro Alliance and most recent ones by Doremi. That reminds me they've also released episode 11 which makes it three episodes subbed in the space of about 9 days, a lot quicker than the releases beforehand(one episode every 3-4 months or so). It's a long running show currently at episode 106 in Japan so it's been going for about two years now.

Can all be found on animesuki since it has yet to be licensed I don't know if it ever will tbh. What I'm hearing from people is that it tends to have tons of references and parodies of other animes and generally there's loads of flashing/scrolling/rotating text which is why most groups take ages over the releases of it. Soldats especially really went the extra mile with the typesetting. Doremi's is more basic but they still provide the translations for most of the text, they just don't try to match the animation of the text is all. Not that I'm complaining, since more Keroro is better than none at all.

Stellvia - all of it - Loved the ending and certainly left the door open for a return that universe one day ,

still they kind of swerved me a bit at the end as i was expecting a Gunbuster style space monsters battle but the enemy turned out to be part3 of the universe is trying to kill us arc. Even though Shima was a right Whiny bitch towards the end(so much so i felt sorry for Kenta) she was generally likable character for the side of "Work Hard over genius". And the side characters all got there share of the action (except maybe Shima best mate Arisa, until final moments) and liked Aki/Jojo's relationship and Stellvia Station final moments.

.Top show, glad i got the chance to watch it after i missed a few years ago.

AMG season2 ep1-3, Lots of filler with plenty of teasing between Kei and Belldandy with no payoff, which best get sorted this season as we had 26eps of them doing exactly the same stuff there doing now. The only good stuff to come out of all the hugging is Sayoko getting more screen time and is becoming for me the best character of the show, a Drunk, jealous women with kind heart every now and then

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni ep1, got ep2 on the download, your sure right about how freaking creepy the cuty/Sd stuff is compared to the hinted violence certainly gonna watch more.

Gash Bell movie ep2 - Also set after the Lord arc, so it can be watch with out to much knowledge of Gash bell allthough it would spoil anything Umagon related, crazy plot and zero proper fights but it a emotional one near the end

with them building up Vulcan Gen 4th character all through the movie and then taking the fall

Naruto Movie 2 - Much better fights and story than movie 1, with Shika,Sakura,Gaara and the puppet guy getting fights(Tenmari would have been the cherry on the cake, specially with Shika around had they put her in it), and for once i don't think Naruto used his Kyuubi rage power. The Gelbei stone stuff is all pretty much Duex Machine and so was the solution but if it allows Shika and Gaara to kick some ass then so be it(Gaara's typical no time wasted approach making a refreashing welcome return).

Lamue ep10-12(the end) - Strange run up to the ending,

and even though the writer forced them both in accidents to show there dependence on each other, there really wasn't much of a pay off at the end with nothing being cemented in there relationship outside of hug which was dammed annoying. Specially if the guy you loved staying in a coma for a year finally wakes, after you spent the entire year by his bedside failing school and whatnot, you not just gonna hug him when comes to. Still i enjoyed the show for seeing a different kind of relationship than we're us to in this hentai games turned anime.

Aria the Natural ep1/2 - More cute, dizzy stuff, loved the festival stuff and the treasure hunt was fun, it's just so, so easy to forgive this show for never really doing anything at all, usually with average animation and often seeming normal thing happening(within reason). This show just makes me want to be lazy.

Garasu no Kantai ep1 - Think "Last Exile" but with pretty boys + French like Aristocrats + armies + people(communist) Rebellion in space that somehow has breathable air, all with a Gonzo budget.... I'm sticking with it

Nana ep4 - they finished off Pink Nana past, and now on to Black nana past although for some reason i don't think it will last as long. Still great stuff.

Soul Link ep2-4 Im very surprised how a couple of episode can turn it all around, it's gone all Die Hard in Space on me.

Terrorists evade and the main characters get caught on board after the civ's and students have evacuated, cue some surprisingly brutal deaths. I didn't think i was suppose to hate the white haired girl but i really, really do after getting a ton of people murdered inthe control room after 'getting carried away' hope she bloody dies soon. The bit where the terrorist's go after the remaining crew is excellent, and that brutal ambush of bullet through the eye(the terror in his face is excellent), and the other women throwing that guy to the floor and Shooting him in the back rocked. Still i havn't a clue what there doing by introducing thie mystery person that locked that girl inthe locker and the ooze bit... seems something hiddens going to happen to the students and terrorists.

Keroro Gunso sound interesting but i got way to much to download at the moe, maybe one for the swapshop

Glad someone else posted as I didn't want to bump the topic with another post of my own. Would of felt like talking to myself.

Garasu no Kantai ep1 - I have to admit I'm slightly disappointed with the first episode. Perhaps it's just that I went in with high expectations because it looked like an epic scifi show. It was all too silly for me at certain points, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt with the breathing in space bit since it happened in Gunbuster 2 and they explained it quite nicely. There was other bits though like the end where there was a sudden gust of wind which made that main characters hair flail a bit to add to the dramatic impact. Use of bows and arrows/swords as weapons when they're flying in around in advanced spacecraft. Not to mention the spaceships using hand loaded shells as ammo for their big guns( I guess it's all part of suspending my disbelief). That said there were hints of more promising things to come, the scale of the battle in the beginning was impressive, the music was good, can't say for sure about the story just yet. About the most interesting thing for me was whether or not that main character Michel was a guy or a girl. I'll be following it in the hope it gets better but I suppose I should lower my expectations.

Yume Tsukai ep1 - Subbed by Arienai and Ureshii joint. No complaints with the subs. The actual show seems like a lower budget/quality more fanservicey version of Mushishi. Looks like each episode might well be a separate self contained story. Weird first episode, basic summary would lesbian girl traps the object of her affections in her dreamworld somehow and two Yume Tsukai help her out. It's different and I thought it was pretty good, will be keeping up with it.

Witchblade ep1 - subbed by Bakakozou and Conclave joint. Again no complaints. Decent first episode. I think it's based on an american comic/tv series. Nice action when it showed it and the art and animation seemed pretty decent, a fair bit of blood and an interesting setting. Not too much else to say other than the main character has unbelievably large breasts. I mean these are like gravity defying. It's even worse when she "transforms". Not bad as first episodes go. Will be keeping up with this one.

Ray the animation ep1 - A medical anime in the same vein as Black Jack, which I got addicted to a while back. About a girl called Ray who was given the "eyes of god" by a master surgeon*hint hint* when she was younger.. Basically means she's got x-ray vision. The hospital she's started working in is crazy. There's a director who wouldn't be out of place in One Piece, a bunch of combat nurses led by a Chun Li lookalike and the whole place seems to be full of criminal patients. Ray herself reminds me of Natsuki from Mai Hime/Otome. Good first episode I thought. Will be keeping up with it as well.

Keroro Gunsou, I'd say is a must watch but if you don't have the time then you don't have the time. The more people watch it the better, although it maybe hard to download some of the episodes now since the early ones at least are not as well seeded now AFAIK. Definitely one for the swapshop
Might have to check out Soul Link again as that sounds a lot better than what the first episode showed.

Anyone heard of SHRIMPS subbers? Before i went to work i had look on the newsgroups(ABMA) and they had subbed ep17 to ep26 of GunXSword, set ep17 to download to check it out, seeing as shinsen have forgotten about it. Was tempted to download Ray, but after looking at the pics and plot for i thought it was going to be a serious medical drama + super eye's. Also have Yume Tsukai onthe download, but it's been doing 1k/sec on the torrent

They subbed School Rumble's last few episodes when I believe everyone was waiting for Wannabe fansubs to release them. From what I heard at the time, there subs were pretty poor so I didn't bother. No idea if they have gotten any better. Let us know how you get on as I'd like to see Gun X Sword finished as well. For Yume Tsukai, **** the torrent get on to IRC and download it straight from their bots. I went to Arienai's channel and downloaded it from their bot since it's not too busy. Maxed out my download speeds from there. At the very least it's got to be better than the 1k or so your getting on the torrent. They are on chatspike in the #arienai channel.

As for Ray, I imagine it's going to be similar to Black Jack in a way. A lot of the operations and stuff will be more fantasy based and really that realistic. I mean in the first episode the operation she did, didn't actually last that long. I'm not sure but there seems to be more to it than just Ray doing operations as she has a mysterious past as well. She's trying to find out about some weird organization IIRC. I'd say check it out and see what you think since the files that were released by Froth-Bite for it are about 100MB each and the series is only 13 episodes long I believe(although it may be subject to change) so at the least it's going to be roughly 1.3GB in total. They've currently subbed up to episode 4 with their usual quality. Available from their IRC channel as well with fast bots. Certainly worth checking out at least.

edit: Anyone know anything about Kodomo No Omocha or Kodocha for short I believe? Any good?

edit2: Higurashi ep3 out from Triad, can't wait to watch it when I get back tonight.

I hate downloading from IRC, anytime i get above 100k/sec it crashing the machine, making for painfull downloads

Must be something wrong with your setup. I'm regularly maxing out my 2Mb line at 200+ Kb/s on most bots with no problems. It's by far the easiest and quickest way for me to get most files. First I've ever heard of any problems like that. For example just finished d/ling Higurashi 3 from Triad's bots in about 13 minutes at pretty much max speed. No crashes or anything.

Do you get any error messages or does the comp just freeze? The only problems I've had with IRC is continuous disconnecting after a period of inactivity on my wireless connection.

Shrimp's take on GunXSword is pretty damn good; I got the remainder of the series from them before Easter and couldn't spot any major problems. Only real issue was how some names were spelt differently compared to Shinsen, but that's a given these days.

Its been a problem i've always had, if BT doing 150+ it resets/crashes the pc, but IRC it takes 100k/sec to do it, its ok for things like manga that are 5-10mb big but 150-240mb files easily crash. Have no problem doing html's anime eps at 230k/sec though. Mayeb i should try looking for IRC client that can limit download speeds, Mirc is offer's nothing for it.

That must suck then. Personally I'd see if I could get help from one of the forums for either your IRC client or the BT client your using. If it occurs with both then there's something seriously wrong. Should definitely not be doing that. Reading around on Utorrent forums which is the BT client I use, some people have had similar problems of computers being reset/crashing. Suggestions seem to be either disable DHT in your client and/or patch yor tcpip.sys file. Some think it's a problem with too many connections that causing it or faulty hardware. I'm assuming your on winxp right? If so then download this and then follow these instructions: "When the download has finished, double-click the program and press C on your keyboard. Then, type in 50. Press Enter. Press Y. Now the program will check to make sure that the patch was applied properly. If you get any annoying Windows messages telling you that critical system files have been modified and need to be replaced with the original versions, just click on Cancel to prevent Windows from undoing what we just did. Reboot your system when the patching is complete. You can use higher values than 50, but generally you shouldn't need to. Sometimes this patch gets reverted by Windows patches, so if you find your connections timing out or getting weird network errors, check to see if your tcpip.sys is still patched!" taken from Utorrent forums. I've hosted the patching file myself as it's pretty hard to find otherwise. Not sure if you've already done it or not but it's worth a try

School Rumble ep4 - forgot to mention this earlier. Great episode continuing in fine form as with pretty much the other eps so far. Best bits for me personally

The whole onigiri scene was classic. The communal bath scene was ace. Ok they reused the joke of that guy having girls hair but I found it funny every single time it came up. Eri asking Harima what kind of stuff he likes and as usual Harima getting the wrong end of the stick. Plus that scene where Eri was skipping along after she'd seen Harima thank her for the ongiri. It wasn't a comedy scene but the Eri fan in me loved that bit. Never seen her so happy. Some of the ideas for plays were pretty funny as well, especially the one where Hanai was so desperate for a kiss he even wanted one from Harima(after he'd revealed he wasn't Yakumo).

Using win2kpro, wouldn't be surprised if my system was crashing due to havign to many connection's, sound plusable.

School RUmble s2 ep4 - Eri fans unite!!! I would love to see Eri get Harmia. I think my fav moment of that ep was Eri asking all those "menu" questions, and most of the play scripts

Haruhi Suzumiya ep5 - What the hell, what freaking ace story.

I really like the idea of Suzumiya being an evolved person or 'God' and some how in her misison to create a club to find aliens, time travelers and Esper's has all it's members belonging to one of the 3 sci-fi cliche's, brilliant. Loved noticing Haruhi's increased flusterness with not getting to be with Kyon, instead of not finding a Alien/TT/Esper on the day out.

Next up so called EP6 which is EP9 part1.....

Dam just noticed in a further edit i called ep5, ep4 which it ain't. Dam this show

Was just about to say that maybe this show is getting to you. I was thinking what the hell is he talking about, ep 4 was last week. Agreed though it's a brilliant setup/story IMO. Amazing that aside from one or two comments from Kyon there was less comedy than in the previous episodes but I still really enjoyed the episode. Perhaps that's down to finally getting some answers to certain questions.

Thinking back to the first episode and the movie with the stuff we know after this episode it's even more clever. It's all hinting at stuff that comes later on and in actual fact now that we know about some things it's actually a decent introduction for almost all of the characters.

In the movie they all play their actual roles e.g. Mikuru is time travelling combat waitress, Itsuki has hidden esper powers and Yuki is a witch from another dimension or something. All mirror the "real life" situation. Then there's Suzumiya who actually directs the film, overseeing every detail and having control of it all. Again this mirrors what you'd expect from a god/ominpotent higher level being as well. Then there's Kyon who in the movie narrates pretty much what any normal person would think watching those scenes.

Ouran Host Club ep4 ? another good episode, highlights for me being

the Father(wish I could remember there names) getting called a phoney and taking it personally, the Twin?s annoying Father by eating a cookie out of Haruhi then licking her cheek clean. And the best since for me was Haruhi ?saving? the manager and Father going nuts when the lamp fell on Haruhi(complete with holding back the tears) gave me goosebumps for some reason. I hope they get together by the end of the show

Eyeshield 21 ep44, boring me to death now, I think Blood+ is more exciting. And the drop in animation quality even when they should blowing some of the budget on the on field action (don?t mind of the off field stuff) would certainly help.

                            Comment

I'm guessing you mean Tamaki Suou, the blonde guy who's the "leader" of the club. Agreed about the episode, really good stuff.

Finally saw the end of Law of Ueki. Finishes at 51 episodes. Overall it was pretty decent, I guess I'd put it in the same category as something like Beet. The fights were definitely the best parts. They pretty much all used their powers in really creative ways and it's more a case of what you'd expect from some of the earlier fights in Naruto or some of Shikamaru's fights i.e. not all about who's the most powerful. Short episode count in the end for the type of series it was. In the end it meant less fillers/training episodes than you'd find in some of the longer running series'. The ending finishes everything up nicely and ties up pretty much all the loose ends. Pretty enjoyable overall after the admittedly sucky first episode. Quite funny at certain parts as well. Worth a watch if you're bored and got nothing else to watch.

Saw Higurashi 3 - I thought the first two episodes were creepy but they've got nothing on this episode. They've managed to get the atmosphere spot on IMO. We're starting to see less and less SD scenes and more of the serious stuff.

One of the best moments was when they both Mion and Rena came to visit Keichi after he'd taken a day of school. They both knew where he'd been which was creepy in itself but then the bit where they're about to walk away and Mion pops up at the door just as he's closing it with that weird look in her eyes saying something like "you'd better not skip tomorrow". Then there's the fact that there was a needle in one of those cakes. The guy started to go crazy and now he's carrying around that baseball so I can certainly see where that opening scene in the series came from. Lots of other stuff going on like the guy in the van trying to kill him. End of the episode as well, all alone in his house and someone comes knocking on the door.

Great stuff, took a while to get started but I'm really into it now.

Saw a new show called Good Witch of the West or (Nishi no Yoki Majo in Japanese I think). First episode was pretty good, an interesting setting, some decent characters, nice music and it had a bit of action in that first episode. At a guess I'd say it might be one of those typical rags to riches stories except it seems the main character Roux was and still is royalty. So I guess it'd be riches to rags to riches then. Worth checking out.

Back. Good to see that good anime shines through for anime fans regardless of the hype surrounding major shows. Ouran and Haruhi are subbers favourites (as zappster will attest to) and for good reason, the shows are so engrossing that time passes in a flash. Ep5 of Ouran was particularly enjoyable and infuriating as kaoru and hikaru again cause tamaki endless amounts of pain and heartache. They even fooled Haruhi in the process.

SR s2 just makes me think one thing, Noto Mamiko's (Tsukamoto Yakumo's seiyuu) voice is so beautiful, soothing and alluring that I would marry her just to hear her voice every day. Oh, and the show is pretty good too ;p

I'll be posting from time to time... mainly because I gotta work and save up for a trip to Japan in August (22 days! Woot!). But mainly because there is just so much anime to watch!
