So more updates since I finally finished getting through the current Neuro manga.

Sora o Kakeru Shoujo 01: I have no idea what to make of this. It seems very childish and ridiculous but there seems to be a hint of something kind of malicious lurking somewhere. More Jun Fukuyama fabulousness though which is always worth a chortle. Kinda reminds me of a more kiddy version of Stellvia for some reason.

Minami-ke Okaeri 01: Well it's not Bible Black faces but it's a massive improvement on the 2nd series. Closer to how it was at the start which is good. Keep it up!

Asu no Yoichi 01: Fairly standard harem kinda setting. Nothing amazing but nothing seemingly awful.

Still got Kurokami to watch but the huge 450mb version I ended up going for is still downloading.

Edit: Kurokami 01 - Nice to see they've kept this as grim as the manga is. Main guy's slightly changed I think but not to ill effect I think. Some quite nice looking fight sequences too; more like kick-boxing rather than the slick moves of other japanese series.

Edit 2: Got twitchy after the first Ippo ep so I found where the manga picks up for the new series (chapter 317 or so if you're interested) and read ahead a bit to remember. I'd completely forgotten that there's an amazing fight so close to the start of the new season. It's something to look forward to for sure.

Kurokami is an incredibly bleak looking show judging by the first ep. Impressive production values, remains to be seen if I can stomach another bound-to-be-depressing seinen show.

Have to admit I enjoyed Akikan far too much. Was expecting an incredibly generic harem show and instead I got naked crabwalk thrusts and pretty much an entire cast of perverts.

Missed most fo these ep1's already... i think my eagerness for new Gundam and Index overid everything else, not watched gundam ep14 yet but index ep14 was fantastic good'ole fashion punch(es) to the face. Good job people are reminding me what to get.

Minami pretty much the same, still good and back with better art than season2 but so far(and by the looks of ep2) lacking any Mako-chan and Maki my fav's from the previous seasons along with Hosaka.

Asu no Yoichi ep1 - got nothing to add to jeff description, it's just very average.

also read Berserk 1-301 over christmas and now im a fan , its got everything i like about claymore but x2 and i can't believe i wanted this long to read it being i love claymore and it takes alot from Berserk, still the current "Griff only" arc's a bit boring, wish it would get back to Gutts(and more than 1 issue month). Btw is it worth getting the anime or will i be disappointed?

The anime is quite good for it's rendition of what it covers. Griffith and co are all shown quite accurately but it suffers from the same problem the Claymore series did; a tacked on ending because the manga wasn't finished.
If you have the time it's worth a shout but don't expect a good ending.

The anime is good, it covers the first arc. What tacked on ending? You just see Guts leave for his journey of revenge. Its a shame it never continued, it did lousy in japan.

Tobal where did you get the scans? I've been meaning to get back into it, i stopped as people stopped doing translations at the time. Got to the part just after the Berserker Armor.

I've heard Ride Back is very good too. Also Kemono No Soja Erin (sp?) piqued my interest because it's from the seirei no moribito author + production I.G. but I've not heard as flattering comments regarding this, mainly the complaint seems to be it's too kiddy and the narrator is too intrusive. Still it's 50 eps long so may be worth it in the long haul. Plus it's production I.G. and I've really enjoyed their last few shows so I'll be sticking with it beyond the first episode if/when the subs do arrive.

edit: #lurk on irchighway is the place to go if you use IRC for your leeching needs. You'll probaably want to check the packlist at gotlurk.net too

2gig torrent for 1-298 chapters, if your crap with irc or just plane hate it, i usually look on mangashare to see who scanning what and then either irc, torrent or ddl from fileshare sites

Watched Rideback ep 1 myself now and I loved it. The OP is like the Black Lagoon one by the same artist, lots of engrishy rubbish. Suppose it has a nice beat though. Loved the ED. Fairly sedate intro episode looking at the main character's background and the state of the world. I'm sort of getting a Honey and Clover with mecha/bike vibe from it, to throw in one of my ridiculous comparisons. It all looks very nice with some nice animation in parts. Looks wise it kind of reminds me of true tears/toki wo kakeru shoujo (

particularly the leap at the end

). It's all based on a manga but it does differ significantly from it (or so I'm told, I'll have to check the manga for myself sometime). The subs from I-Z aka infinite-zero are adequate. Hopefully someone comes along with a nice looking softsubbed version too. First new show I've seen and looks like I'm onto a winner. Definitely keeping up with this for the time being and barring anything catastrophic could be shaping up to one of the best for me.

Spot on there Zapp. Probably the best of the few limited new series I've seen so far with Kurokami second. Though I must say there's something wierd about the main girl's best friend's face.

Speaking of which, has anyone noticed a sudden uprising of "quality" scenes in anime as of late? I don't know whether it's just from outsourcing or what but there seems to be more and more shockingly bad animation; Akikan's second episode left me cringing in places with it, Tytania seems riddled with it, even Gundam 00 has a fair few middleground shots where faces look like they've been done by chimps.

Maybe I've just been ignoring it all this time...

I didn't really notice but a mate of mine did say something about the design of her bothered him too. So you aren't alone in that.

Could be although I've not really watched much of the newer stuff yet or the more recent episodes of stuff like Gundam. Maybe the global financial crisis has hit the anime industry?

Rideback ep1 - like you guys, really enjoyed it and zaps not wrong with the Honey'n'Clover comparison, i'm guessing from the introduce of the world it'll turn serious at some point and we get some rebels vs the GGP action later on. Best new show so far.

Kurokami ep1 - nice story setup and strange to see such a normal way of fighting, it had the impact of those rare and kickass fights from Real Drive.

Gundam 00 new intro is pants and the singing... no thanks, leave it to macross.

Still waiting on subs for Seirei no Moribito "sequel", Slayers, Viper Creed and Chrome Shelled Regios.

Don't forget about Druaga if you want to know what happens after the first series.
Although I must admit I spent the first episode

screaming "you lying bitch!" every time Kaaya appeared on-screen. I did like Utu's debut as well.

Finished off Akane-iro as well. What a stupid series. All that effort for a result like that.

On a side note, some nice fellow appears to be scanning the Mushishi manga. Nothing in the first 4 volumes that wasn't made into an episode but with the number of volumes from the series, they should roughly be able to squeeze another 24 episodes out of it.

Now we just need the animation studio to pick the damn thing up again.

Druaga s2 - not a bad start, and i quite like the Fatina*Jil combo, lets hope after climbing the tower with her and after meeting that traitorous whore he shuns her for Fatina. And Utu return was class

Linebarrels ep14 - they just keep coming with the surprises,

i honestly was expecting the chief to be alive but he's proper dead!(and so you should with a bullet to the brain, but you never know), juda's finished leaving Linebarrels going solo. And they cap that off with his dead mate getting cloned by badguys??? why? new factor or just another way to mess with Hayase mind, either way i don't think it was needed and should have dead. Still this leaves the main plot dead, it basically Linebarrels vs World and Hayase still a **** pilot short of 3 or 4 training montages
