Spice and wolf 2 is a given

i'm just about to sack Queens Blade, Basquatch!, Sengoku Basara and Shin Mazinger

Eden of the east is not doing much either

but enjoying Valkyria Chronicles, Hajime no Ippo and FMA Brotherhood

Even though FMA is still pretty good, just wondering how many episodes there is going to be?, mainly because the events in brotherhood at the moment happened around the episode 14/15 mark of the original

I would rather they offer 50 episodes and keep it as charming as it was previously than just rush though and finish it early - sometimes filler episodes have to be there to expand the characters

    for example:

they've skimmed over Major Hughes so maybe the impact of his death wont be as great, also things have been changed slightly, Grand Basque at least lasted past episode 13 in the original but he was killed in episode 2 of brotherhood and you still havent seen Ed's and Al's Mother yet (Sloth) whereas she made a brief appearance early in the original

still love the strong arm alchemist, very Choaniki

I don't mind the pace of the new FMA, mainly because most of us have watched original and know whats coming.

Spice'n'Wolf OVA was great, through i don't remember Horo fawning over Lawrence so much even at the end of the season1, even so i still enjoyed it.

PaniPoniDash OVA, also pretty good. Makes me want to search out ep17 onward(where the quality subs stopped airing during it original run). pretty much the same formula as every ep of PPD, Class vs Becky with Class President doing some at the end . Don't remember the original being this fan service laden or having that many cameos but then this is an OVA, i nearly spat my drink out when Akikan appeared and laughed at the Gantz Cycle, TTGL referrence was bound to happen.

K-on ep5 - brilliant episode, so far most of the eps had a few laughs but where mostly moeblobing and sliceOFlife. This had a crap ton of laughs mainly thanks to the teacher being brought into the fray.

Caught up with a few eps of Phantom and Asura Cryin both just keeping there head above water so i keep d/ling for now. Watched some 7 Ghost, will probably drop it if the 3rd episode doesn't improve on things as it already to bishi enough for my liking.

I don't know how you can not have love for Sengoku Basara, where a man can scale a wall standing on the back of 2 horses with an great axe for an harness. Ep5 was pretty good, they had Honda show up and just fecking wreck everything in sight, having never played the games(a shame of mine, being i love DW'esk games) honda basically being a GUNDAM had me laugging my head off.

The others i can understand, Queen Blade is just 90's anime revisited(which is why i like it, and the boobs). Basketball+Mecha was always going to be niche and Shin Mazinger is to far up its own arse for anyone but the die hards of Super Robot shows to enjoy.

just find it boring, each army has 1 super soldier and they just kill everybody and fight each other with no outcome

The videogame (Sengoku Basara X) was dreadful as well

Tobal do you download MKV's?, i personally prefer AVI's and normally wait until the AVI is out - think i've only watched upto episode 3 of Basara

mkv's/mp4 all the way, why get any avi when the same size mkv looks better? I know this isn't always the case as it depends on how well the subber encoded the file which has seen an increase in file sizes lately to 250-300mb average with 350-400mb lazy encoded subs. But i feel it's worth it, watching stuff in 480p or 720p compared to yester-years xvid/divx, shows a big difference on my setup.

Yep, mkvs all the way for me too. I wouldn't say it's lazy encoded subs either. From what I know they're just giving the bitrate that these 720p files need/deserve. Generally the 720ps that clock in at the same size as the regular avis are the ones that are upscales (like some of m33w's older stuff). Although I will admit to having very little if any knowledge on the matter and you may be talking about sd files anyway.

edit: almost forgot. Spice and wolf ova was nice. Whetted my appetite for a full series now. Looking forward to that muchly.

I tend to go for mkvs myself as well since the better quality and ordered chapters are such a major pull. Although it irks me a tad when some groups use mkvs and don't add the chapters...

Here was me almost up to date with the season aagin then along springs a graphics card upgrade enabling lots of pc gaming. Still managed to watch a few.

Eve no Jikan 4; No sammy tragically but a nice ep nonetheless. I liked how they introduced an older version robot to show it's not purely the more human-looking ones which have the difference. I'm thinking at some point they'll go for the whole

girl classmate rats out the cafe to the authorities since she thinks the guy fancies the robot.

Ep 5 in July and 6 in september hopefully. Even better, Kara no Kyoukai's 6th movie is due out on dvd in July too. If it lives up to my expectations, Summer Season will be massively more entertaining than Spring's despite me enjoying what I'm watching.

the reason why i stick to AVI's is because of two reasons:

the hard-subs on AVI's always seem better, somtimes on the MKV's if there is alot of dialogue they seem to overrun each other and form a white mash of words at the bottom of the screen - MP4's subs are fine

and my Divx dvd player plays the AVI's so i can watch them on my big TV in the living room, with MP4's and MKV's i cant do this

However if the series i'm interested in is only available on MKV's then i will download it, for example every Detroit metal city was MKV's and Strike witches was generally MP4's prior to the HD versions finding their way onto the net

I generally go for the mkv for the better video quality, the larger file sizes dont make much of a difference these days with higher net speeds, and larger HDD's.

You dont use VLC by any chance do you? Sub overlap doesnt happen in MPC etc. Soft subs are always preferable imo mainly for the fact you can turn them off for Screenshot purposes etc.

Dont know what sort of set up your using, but i just hook up my laptop to my TV. I can watch any file type i want, meaning mkv in their full HD glory (where applicable). And i dont need to faf around burning dvds n stuff before hand.

Just an aldi basic DVD player with dixv capability

i burn all my stuff to disc anyway once i have enough to fill a disc and if i had a desire to watch one of my items right away on my TV all i have to do is stick it on a USB drive, so there isnt any hassle

my HD CRT is too old and there is no PC connection to it and i dont really need to take any screen grabs the stuff i watch

I'm afraid my tinterweb connection isnt the best so when it comes to file size i need whats best for me, my laptop monitor and my TV arnt HD so i see no difference in the picture whatsoever - MKV's for me seem to have more breakup or interlacing issues

so everything i download is normally between 170 - 250 meg

AVI's suit me to the ground and are very watchable on any TV i want to watch them on

and yes i do use VLC player

Nooooooo. Switch to media player classic. Your mkv subs should actually work then in conjuction with the CCCP codec pack.

Yep. I'd only use VLC as a last resort and only if I was desperate to watch something asap. It's been known to have borked softsub support for years and they don't appear to have done much to fix it.

Also the issues pertaining to mkvs having more interlacing, that's not a fault of the mkvs. Like avis they're only containers but they support more features which subbers are starting to make use of. They don't in themselves do anything to the video (as far as I have been made aware by people that know more about it than I do).

I've been using MPC+CCCP for years and it's been great. Never looked back since I made the switch and it's handled everything I've needed to perfectly fine. Plus I like using softsubs because it means I can make changes to the subs to suit my needs. Anyway it doesn't really matter. Whatever works best for you really. There's no point in changing it if you're perfectly fine with your setup. I guess it's just about being aware that it's not always the files that are causing the problem but the setup being used.

indeed MPC and CCCP are great combo, its all i use. I always have my PC hooked up to my sony bravia2 and av centre so get the most the most out of mkv's vastly superior video and sound quality.
