Any idea what series these mecha come from?



It comes from this page and I'm pretty sure it's the work of Takayuki Yanase (小松原博之) or "Windfall", or possibly Komatsubara Hiroyuki.

MAHQ just confirmed my suspicions their not from an animé series, their original mechs from the Super Robot Wars Games more specifically the Alpha series.

then the left one is: R-3 Real Personal Trooper Type-3
middle one is: R-1 Real Personal Trooper Type-1 (more than a bit of a Zeta clone)

OK, another question for you. Is it worth watching Macross Frontier? I'm loving the mecha design, but I've heard it's a bit ropy...

In Super Robot Wars (Taisen) Original Generation: Divine Wars (anime) they are the SRX team. But yes, originally from the SRW games (GBA/PS2).



Macross Frontier is well worth watching too.

I thought Macross Frontier was one of the most annoying & bland animes i have seen in years and i'm saying that as a fan of Macross 7.

I never actually found the patience to watch Macross 7. I started watching the first episode but it just didn't do anything for me. I've seen TV, Plus, Zero, Frontier, even Macross 2.

I think Macross 7 is a worthy series, if you can dig the music, Otherwise I think it will destroy your mind.

And despite the hoopla surrounding Macross 2, I think it's up there with the best incarnations of the Macross universe.

Yeah, I kind of liked it too.

If it wasn't for acquiring Dancouga Nova and all the Ramune & 40 eps I would be tempted by a rewatching of Zero and Frontier.

I just watched the first episode online, Baseley09. I think you can watch the whole series.

The first episode seemed like an updated version of the original show. Not much point watching it if it's the same thing repeated. Nice designs though.

Nope, though the rips are out for the DvD/Blu (R2 jp) releases, its at least worth watching if your a fan of macross, i think main problem is the unlikable main lead, very slow middle section and the enemies are pretty ****, there monsters that evolve against weapons so it becomes a case of stupid fights with knifes(think avatar) instead of abattle field packed with gunfire and rockets. But a couple of ace battles, the 2 main girls and the massive last episode with some kickass fighting going on save it, even if the ending is a co-out for the incoming movie.

There are some similarities to Macross but that ends about ep5. The Macross Zero tie-in episode was quite fun.
LION was the best anime OP of that year in my opinion.
