Finally getting up to date with the tpb versions of One Piece. I'm on volume 51 now, only 3 more after this. It's really kept me hooked in a way other shonen series haven't (except maybe Negima).

Going to have to find a new series to put in my ebook reader. Thinking about Monster as I hear loads of people raving about it.

You should read the newest chapters. Shocking situations and as exciting as ever and I wholehartedly agree with you about the maintianed interst thing. I want to see the 10th film big-time but such is the case with domestically-released flicks eh?

Don't think I could stand waiting for one piece chapters on a weekly basis given it stretches out fights over entire volumes. Would much rather wait for a couple of volumes to be release so I can have a good 90 minute read.

Sony PRS505. If you use Calibre you can convert cbz/cbr (renamed zip/rar) files into LRE and it's pretty effective. Does have a few minor issues, notably it hates files with a mix of png and jpgs but other than that, it's great.

Thats cool, although i think its probably too early days for me, i just want to log onto a store and download stuff, i don't want to have to search for files, convert them etc. I guess the iPad might change things a bit, which could be good.

I don't really know what you mean by that.

What i was getting at is at the moment there doesn't seem to be any decent distribution for legal manga downloads, there are some available on the Kindle store, and some as iPhone apps, but it seems the best way to read manga on any device is to download fan translations. I don't really want to do this, mainly because i don't want to have to waste time converting files into readable formats for my reader, i'd rather pay someone to do that part for me and have some of my money actually go to the artist/author.

As far as the iPad goes, i don't have much interest as it looks like its just a big iPod Touch, but i think the competiton of an iBook store will help some of the other companies improve the market.

Finding Manga (in convienient tpb format) isn't too hard once you get used to using IRC bots.

At the moment there isn't a huge amount of manga on online stores and it's a bit pricey, should change eventually though. Interested in seeing if the Haruhi or Spice and Wolf light novels are available to buy online.

I don't really know what you mean by that.

I just meant that finding and converting things really isn't that difficult or time-consuming. I do understand wanting to be doing things legitimately and that authors/artists are adequately compensated for their work.

i don't know how you can wait on One Piece, this weeks ones(and thursday's scanlation's of 575) are brilliant, don't think i could wait months to read volumes.

Whitebeard getting super f'ing angry and smacking Akainu down with 2 Haki+Earthquake power punches spliting the island in 2 with half his face burnt off , followed by teach and his new extras from level 6... giving him a crew the size of Luffy's.

while the other big 2 have gone all DERP! DERP! with stupid hax-plots, Oda keeps One Piece right on track and i love wondering where he will take the story next, i mean we still have the end of MarineFord War to happen and the massive afters to deal with like

what Whitebeard(bound to happen now) and Ace deaths, the resulting power vacum, will it be buggy, will Teach turned traitor to the marines(now) to become the 4th Yonkai, will merman island be fair game now whitebeard not around, the crew getting back together and of course Luffy dealing with Ace's death

One Piece did have a rather bad case of power levels and power creep with the Enies Lobby arc where they go from being outclassed to being more powerful in the space of a couple of volumes. It's also never quite convincing when Nami beats someone powerful.

Other than that it's been fairly a whole lot less irritating than Bleach's "Ichigo gets beaten and nearly dies > Ichigo gets a power boost > Ichigo easily beats person" and Narutos "sup dawg I heard you like Sharingan's so I put sharingans in your sharingans!".

The main draw for One Piece really is that all the characters, even the bad guys are wonderfully likeable. Naruto/Bleach do not have that.

This might seem like an odd question, but I figured this would be the best thread to ask, without detouring too much off topic - you know how in a lot of animes, when you have a guy see a girl almost naked and they break out in gushes of blood, flying out their noses........ Well, has there ever been an occurance where it happens to the girl? IE the other way around? Or is anime these days still as sexist as it always was?

btw I hafta agree with House, I mean Zero9X that One Piece characters all seem to have likeable/idetifiable charactistics which ooze charm.....

I think it happens to the maid in Kuro ****suji.
It's supposed to represent the guy getting an erection so I don't quite see it being sexist, just simple biology.

Happens a lot in Maria + Hollic (stars a girl who goes to an all girl catholic school hoping to meet the love of her life).

It's not exactly sexist as these nosebleeds are pretty Freudian in nature.
