watched the first 2 eps of code geass last night. a new mecha anime by sunrise and clamp. It certainly is different and the main enemy being ol britannia (which for some reason is labeled in america, maybe we took out the yanks). I quite enjoyed from what ive seen so far, has anyone else started to watch this yet?

Code Geass is really good, took me by surprise how much of an asshole the main guy is to everyone around him, and that the attitude needed to when taking on a Super Power, seems so far based on ep10 the only super powers are Britanna and Central Asia(China?) with Britanna Knowingly in control of the America's, and at war with CA in europe. It really cool the way he just about get away with all his crazy schemes with quick thinking.
Also Karen is hot

I've really enjoyed what I've seen so far of it (only 2 episodes). Just rather unfortunate that I haven't had the time to see any more but that should be changing soon.
Been catching up with a couple of shows now that I finally have the time to do so. Black Lagoon for example, the first story arc of the new season is justreally enjoyed what I've seen of that but it's not really surprising since I loved the first season. I'm hoping (if the quality of it keeps up throughout the second season) that we get a third one since the manga is still ongoing.
NHK - Satou still annoys me at times but some of the episodes like the MMORPG one were just so good that I often forget about my annoyances with the show such as the animation quality and Satou's stupidity. It's like a trainwreck that I can't take my eyes off of. I don't mean that in the sense of the show but the actual characters. e.g. there's so many messed up people in the show with some really serious mental/health related issues that I find myself so intrigued by (maybe because I can kind of relate to some of it in a way) so much so that I found each episode I've recently watched to be really engrossing.
Pumpkin scissors after a bunch of ok eps it's gotten better with the recent one going back to the conspiracy story. Busou renkin has gotten better too, but I find the Papillion guy to be really camp, episode 6 (or was it 7?) for example I was just laughing every time he was onscreen. I've not really been too keen on the fight scenes so far. Overall a cheesy, at times extremely camp, show with some funny moments. Not something I'd outright recommend to anyone but I guess if you like stuff in the genre it's worth a watch. D Grayman is much the same but not as camp and I've preferred what I've seen of it so far which inlcudes episode 11, so I'm up to date with it at least.
Still got a bunch of stuff to catch up with like 10 or so eps of Nana and the rest of Black Blood Brothers to watch plus some shows I haven't even started which are supposed to be rather good like Red Garden. Oh well, I should hopefully catch up in the next few weeks.

lol, i forgot about the pizzahut product placement.
Papillion is ace, makes me laugh everytime he's on screen and has just about the right amount of menace to take seriously when he chooses to fight.
Don't worry about Black Lagoon the second arc in the 2nd season takes place in japan and it fking ace, think a male Roberta with a sword.
Nana 30/31 - big changes afoot with a gear changes from Happiness to OMG! 32 should be duzzey with the clifhanger in 31 and i can slowly start see why Nana and Nana have drifted apart (which is my take on the monologues before the opening credits every episodes)

Well I watched the 2nd arc just now. Wasn't the one you talked about but it was still pretty cool regardless. Loads of cool (one shot?) characters introduced in this arc. It's the one with the IT girl and the fake money. The japanese dude is coming up next or at least I've seen him in the preview for ep 19. Can't wait. It's just a shame it's going to be over soon

ep214- but it still filler rubbish, since about ep150 odd....
Lot of christmasreleases and a chance to watch loads being off work
NHK ep23/24 end - i liked the ending,
i know some of the novel fan dislike for Sato getting a happy ending(well not happy, just not bad) by winning Misaki which is ok for me there both as nuts as each other. Although i wasn't sure just what the hell Sato's breakdown for the cliff jump meant... was he just trying to show Misaki how painful it is to watch some commit suicide? i thought he had won her over after the save and hugging in the snow. Oh well, at least the manga's still going and is better than the anime but will it end up a happy ending for everyone but Sato??
Maria-sama OVA 1 + special - woohoo, be dying to watch this. Yumi's getting pretty close to Sachiko, loved the party bit near the end in attempt to crush Yumi as Sachikos petite s?ur and of course Yumi coming through using her commoner's skills. Just a shame there was no Sei, rollon OVA2
Busou Renkin ep10/11 - really nice fight between the twins and the warriors, i like Muto he's got that Luffy personality about him brute force and a high resolve for getting mashed up.
The way he took the Twin's finishing move was nuts, letting him himself get sliced into the chest to use the Alchemy arms heart stop the blade.... and of course getting a beating from both side when trying to stop the fight (stabbed, slit wist, pieced through the stomach). Still not enough Papillon inthe episodesand moonface looks like a good villian to.
Kiba ep34-38 - all out war in neotopia,
surprised Hugh joined forces to stop weapon x, like his new insane persona of wanting to destory everything if he can't have it. And it looks like Key spirits can evolve but didn't like to new look to Amil Gaoul, still at least Noa seems to be comes to his senses over this ulimate rules crap and loved it when Zed dragged out Hariam to trade for the hostages, he looked like he was about to cry(shame it took them 2 groups of ded hostages to do that, but still lolhugh and his zero olerance not messing bargining... kill a pile of hostages first then tell them he'll do it again unless demands are met, billiant
). Also seems sagari does have some role to play in this series.
Negima ep8/9 - i think it we're going to get a pacito card every episode now.. as i said before i like the show still but i have this niggling feeling i'm disapointed its not based on the fighting aspects of the manga and Asuna being treated like unimportant slack stick figure
Kanon ep12 - Mai nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!! i had to lol when they started dancing after both of them saying they couldn't dance.. still the ending of thr episode ><
also in great news AE started subbing Hanada Shounen Shi(ep1-5), i watched up ep11 before Lunar dropped it back '03. It's a must watch go download it.

Finished Canvas 2(old 2005 show, been meaning to watch it for ages now) - and i don't think i've been more pissed off with an ending for long time but this just takes the biscuit, just ruined the what was decent show for me,
so much build up for Kiri (is it something writen in Harem law about girls called Kiri always losing) and then in the space of final 2 episodes they destroy the relationship so unrealisticly and come up with some completely left field bat**** to leave the main guy ending up with the most selfish, unlikable character of the show. i won't even mention anything about the grooming either...

Yeah I felt sort of the same after the ending. I actually liked it more than Shuffle up to that point but than the ending was even worse than Shuffle's or at least I thought so. Part of the reason I didn't mention it in this thread after championing the anime for so long
I do remember reading some stuff about the ending that had some plausible explanations for his choices and the fact that there were clues there that things weren't quite right with Kiri. For example when Kiri makes a point of telling Elis about the christmas dinner with Hiroki(?) not sure if that's correct (it's been a while) but I remember something happening around that time with Kiri saying something to Elis. People were saying it was a sign of Kiri's insecurity that something wasn't quite right with Hiroki and that she had to reaffirm by telling Elis. I suppose it's easier to come up with these crazy theories in hindsight when you know the ending and it may seem like grasping at straws *shrugs*
Some links here if you're interested --> http://www.yayapapayaz.com/hontouni/?p=347 http://anime.jefflawson.net/2006/04/...r-la-victorie/ I can't remember where it was that I read some of the explanations but those links do seem familiar.
The only thing I had a problem with at the time was the lack of clues as to how it was going. If they'd say made the series 26 episodes long and used those extra two episodes to perhaps give more pointers and clues to the eventual ending I'd have been ok with it. I didn't dislike Elis as much as you seemed to. I mean she was spoiled but I thought she developed and matured quite a bit over the series. That said, I still thought Kiri was a better choice and she certainly was my choice. Canvas could have been great (indeed I thought it was for quite a bit of the series) but the ending let it down.
Hard to decide where I would rank it after the ending but I'd still say it was on a par with Shuffle (maybe slightly lower) which I just can't get over Asa's stupidity in the final few episodes. The more I think about it, the more stupid it (and she) seems after being the clued up one for most of the series..
NHK final episodes - Hmm. I liked the ending
just wish there had been more concrete stuff with Misaki and Satou. I'm not really sure there was anything significant with that Satou scene at the end where he was saving Misaki. It just seemed to be another one of those annoying moments that he had throughout the series( I hate to keep banging on about it).
At the start I actually thought he was pretty ****ed up but in the end he wasn't that bad. He could still go out side and into the real world for large parts of the episodes and it was only really when something bad happened to him that he would go back to his mental ways. Usually this always seemed to happen when he was on the mend and finally sorting himself out. It just felt like large crappy resets to his character throughout the series just to stretch things out a bit which I didn't like. At least in the end he's not back where he was at the start and has managed to get out and about a bit more which was pretty pleasing for me after the above annoyances with his character. Other than that and the animation quality, I really liked the series. Had some really funny moments, the "BJ" scene in 19, Satou and his thoughts about the senpai, them all getting duped into that marketing scheme after trying to get Satou out of it initially etc....
Also good to see Yamazaki seems to have gotten on fine, especially after he seemed to have blown his chances with that other girl when he acted like a right dumbass.
Black Lagoon has been great. The second season has swayed me into buying the DVDs of the show eventually. The current arc in Japan has been ace and now that Shinsen have released it I'll be finishing it up shortly. Hopefully there's more to come. Nana's been great as well (but it's pretty much been like that the whole series) not liking where things are headed thoughLast edited by Zapp$ter; 31-12-2006, 11:34.

I think the reason Kiri said about confessing to Elis was to get her back her man, as she could see all the sign and has for along time inthe anime. Just a shame it lend to Elis accident which ulimately opened up a chance for Elis, but still is was poor decision to have Elis win, through out the entire story he always saw her as his little sister and they never had any decent interaction with one another other than the whole, making dinner and red/can't draw business. It just makes it look all the more stupid how strongely they built up all Kiri backstory and the anime current dating moments for him to somehow fall out of love with a girl he's been mad for since they where kids(and already once turned down due to some stupid 'im not good enough' moment). More i think about the show more im annoyed and spot other things like the total lack of building up the side characters(something shuffle did ahellalot better), Tomoko got barely a look in after her 'introduction' episode and i thought it might have gone somewhere with the sickness thing, im pretty sure she was the little grey haired kid in the flashback of young Elis in hospital, but nothing happened and when they reveiled she was get heart surgery i didn't care.
Kiba ep39 - wow, that was a nice payoff for the end of the neotopia arc,
its so rare to see shounen style shows build up so well. Hariem got his spot light redemption death, wicked battle between Hugh and Zed which sadly ended up with Hugh getting killed, i like his style and to get rid of major(and cool) villian they best have something good lined up. And then they top it off with Noa going AWOL and Sagria kidnapped by zed's mum.
Black Lagoon ep24 final - Noooo its over again, hope we see more soon.
The fight between Ginji and Revy was Hardcore, looked like the closest she's come to dying and taking a sword inthe leg ain't nice. Shame about the japanese girl to, driving gin's sword through her throat followed by some sick gurggling noises. Loved the bit at the end with Eda, asking if he got her chance to do it with Rock, maybe next season if there is one
