there is one that seems to be downloading and its the 5.15g file that has them all - presently at 94kbps about 16 hours left, but it could bin out early and over at torrentspy it seems all the episodes were french subs

samurai champloo
gundam seed and destiny (ta tobal)
Rurouni Kenshin (which i havent watched)

The original series too or he won't understand much ^^
>Black cat
Not a big fan, I was extremely disappointed that the series was slashed from 40 and something to 24.
>samurai champloo
Watched the first ep. only.
>gundam seed and destiny (ta tobal)
Oh please no or he will start hating Gundam. 8th MS team, 0080 War in the Pocket, Victory Gundam (V Gundam), X Gundam are the best series he can watch without knowing the original series...Z Gundam is also higly recomended, but he needs to know how 0079 goes on.
>Rurouni Kenshin (which i havent watched)
Ne neither
>Naruto 150+ episodes (which i havent watched)
>bleach (lunar)
I'd say Bleach. Never watched any of them, but a friend of mine insists on having me watching Bleach.
>full metal alchemist
Yay!
>samurai 7
Oh dear god no
>trigun
Fun series.
>Neon Genesis evangelion
Classic.
I might add: Argento Soma, Infinite Rivyus, Stellvia, Last Exile, both Ghost in the Shell series and the first movie, the two Patlabor movies, Macross Plus, Lain, Bogiebop Phantom, Azumanga Daioh, Aria (I'm in love with that series), Jungle wa Hitsumo Hale nochi Guu (four TV/OAV series), Jin Roh, Planetes, The Count of Montecristo, Death Note.

loved black cat - never seen anything before black cat related and i just loved it especially apostles of the stars
he wants subbed animes to watch them in the orginal format, so he will have to try and find his own FMP, as i only have the region 1 boxed set and samurai champloo is just incredible (imo of course) and i quite enjoyed Samurai 7
my personal favourite is FMA and i've been pushing it alot
i've not seen much of the stuff you've mentioned and i know he has watched all of the GITS stuff (and studio ghibli) and those items got him into Anime, but i've watched the Patlabor stuff and i thought it was awful

However, waht really shines about Patlabor is the manga...starts off a bit slow and as a comicl robot-centered series, but then takes off with some intense stories.

Dominion Tank Police is worthy of looking into for anyone who likes Ghost in the Shell. It's like a predecessor to GitS, being one of Masamune Shirow's previous works, and it's very clear on watching it that Dominion that's a lot of inspiration likely drew from what he did in Dominion.
It's much more comedy-orientated than GitS though, and much lower budget, but I love it.
Avoid that 'New Dominion Tank Police' crap though.

All are directed my Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, Avalon) except for the third that was directed by one of his assistants (like Jin Roh); the second movie can be simply described as sublime, the third as a good detective story (which has nothing much to do with the normal characters and thus can be enjoyed by anyone who didn't knew the whole setting) and the first is a good action movie.

Buster, definitely give your mate Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, but make sure he sees them in order as the second series makes references to the first.
Cowboy Bebop needs to be on there as well if you can find it

Genshiken ova 1 - brilliant, one of the funniest tings i watched in while, the new member rocks and loved the Yaoi hate/love, pure comedy.
Soukou no Strain ep8/9 - just when you think its safe BANG!,
can't these friends realise getting close to Sara means death, carris win darwin award after getting to close sara blinds him to the dangers of peering in to a mysterous hole. Didn't think he'll get the axe so soon, but as soon as i saw him head for the hole i knew his number was up. And then they let everyone know who Sara realyl is to spice things up among the crew, and Lotti angery vanishing apon realising sara and her are the same.
Kanon ep14 - NNNNNNnnooooooooooooo,
Sayuri... looks like they plan to end this story arc next episode or 2 with Kyon soloing a demon, and it looks like we'll find out if Mai did know Kyon from way back. Love this show
also 5cm per second 2nd trailer http://www.mediafire.com/?bndfdzwijym
made the hairs on my arms stand up

Just finished up Night head genesis, which i dont remember any one mentioning for a while.
not a great show, but it was interesting enough for the most part. but the last few episodes were a big let down.
basically about a whole bunch of people gaining some kind of super powers, and how most of them were being used or worked for a particular company trying to bring about 'the upheaval'. you never really know wether this is a good thing or not, or if the two brothers that are the main characters are going to stop it or create it. the feeling that your not too sure if their actions are good or bad is done reasonably well.
the problem is that a couple of episodes before the end, just as you think somethings going to come of it all, they totally ditch that story line. skip forward a year and half, and end with a rather anti-climactic (not very big) earthquake story line.
kind of weird, like they didnt know how to end it. i assume that its based on a manga that had a lot more that couldnt fit in, so they just stuck some random ending in.
could of, and have watched worse, but its not something i'll come back to or bother with another series if such a thing happens.

Ep110, Bleach returns to the manga story but keeps some of the stuff that happened in the bounto arc (like them knowing about Ishida's powerless state). Also a warning the ending credits are packed full of spoilers so don't watch them ifyou don't read the manga. Sadley for a return to the story, the animation just wasn't there, and the art look awful.
Bokura ga Ita ep24-26 end, Good show, glad i kept up with it instead of storing it away for another time, in the end it ended how i expected it go since about ep 23/23.
There was no way he could leave his ditzy mum, especially if she has cancer(although they both seemed alittle indifferent to it). Most of ep25/26 was nana cying increasingly cute ways and i laughed when she shot down his zoo trip(+sex) for their last date. Ep26 was very well animated and it was sad to watch them part on the train. I liked that triad included a scanlation of the last pages of story(vol8) from the manga which adds on abit extra after Yano leaves(also i didn't realize 3 years had passed in the anime since Nana meet Yano)... and its heart wretching... the train parting was the last time nana saw Yano... wtf! i really want to read up to the current vol11 to find out whats going on in nana's life now(3 years on from Yano's parting/disappearance) but there's know scanlations past vol3
