Has anyone else been getting a lot of junk mail from so called ebayers lately?
I'm getting about 5 a day at the mo from so called companys in China/Hong Kong offering cheap electrical goods.
The funny thing is they dont appear on my messages page on ebay.
Whats going on because this is starting to piss me off a bit.

My brother managed to get himself bumped on ebay and any help would be fantastic. He deals in antique furniture and brought a table or something (I forget), listed as Victorian. Anyway, it came and he could see that it was clearly not Victorian, in fact its got 'made in china' printed on it. The chaps not willing to refund the £150 odd it cost, so, am I right in thinking that my brother can just refund the money straight through paypal? If not, does he have any options?

Yeah, our shop email address have been getting tons of them recently aswell. It's annoying but doesn't effect us much as we only check questions on the ebay site.

Well, that guy still hasn't paid for the Powerbook auction he won. I've now reported it as an unpaid item, but what do I do next? Can I leave negative feedback and then offer it as second chance item? Or by leaving negative feedback, does that effectively end the listing?

It wont end the listing but seeing as you've had to leave it so long w/out getting an answer theres a big possibility that the 2nd or even 3rd highest bidder has already found & bought a similar item & so wont need to buy yours.

Wait for approx 10 days to pass, then you can close the dispute and receive your FVF back, then when you relist the item, if it sells you get the listing fee credited back to your account.

I (think) if you just relist now, without having received your FVF back, you will be charged the listing fee, and if it sells you won't get the listing fee back..

A lot of people are wary of second chance offers, especially for high-value goods.

After using ebay for years i've finally decided its going to stop. In the past month i've had games described as mint that have turned up so damaged i can't even read them into an iso and a console described as new that obviously isn't and is missing items. The worrying thing is its all been from members with decentish feedback, where did the honesty go? I'm disgusted.

The practice of retaliatory feedback has ruined much of the point of leaving feedback imo. Many people are afraid to do anything other than give great feedback.

I agree with that, i've been hit with three negatives from the same seller because i was honest about my experience with him. Quite childish but i'd rather be honest and make people think twice about using him. . . Especially when he refuses a refund!

Aye, the feedback thing is a pain in the arse. You can just mark the extra ratings down to 1 star if you don't want to risk getting neg feedback, but I don't know if anyone looks at them.

I'd like a nice alternative to ebay but there isn't really any other than the trade forums here, but then its quite hard to shift rubbish here! So I only really end up listing imports and the odd DS game.

But yeah, ebay has its share of idiots. I've had enough items arrived damaged having not been packaged properly or simply not as described. Recently, I had a chap complain and leave negative feedback when I sold him a GBA game. I listed it as 'excellent condition' (and it was in perfect condition) - he was obviously new having no feedback and didn't quite get how things work, so he complained that there was a save file on the cart, stating that he had assumed it was new and wanted to use it as a gift. I would have refunded him if he hadn't left me negative feedback before contacted me, and he even went on afterwards demanding that I refunded him, covered postage and gave him compensation because the present was now late.

I've had that happen to me too. "Furious" didn't sum it up tbh. Thing is, there's nothing you can do with it as Paypal always seem to side with the buyer. Hateful.

I very nearly bought this from eBay.

All well and good, until I spotted something very wrong with the item in question - can anybody guess what?

The game is probably a rip-off - The Pokémon cartridge in the picture is standard GBA grey. Everybody knows that the GBA Pokémon games come in coloured catridges!

                            )

As if my trust in Flea-bay wasn't already at an all-time low. I feel so sorry for the sucker who outbid me at the last minute...

Rule of thumb - everything Game Boy related on eBay is moody. Avoid.

So many people try to trade those in at our store. I've lost count of the amount of people I've tried to educate on fakes and ebay over the years.
