They are testing the new ebay search engine on 10% of the users over a certain feedback rating then random within those. I presume its in the beta stages or whatever but it was frankly horrid. The left control panel to refine your searches has been replaced with a pop up java applet thing where you can meddle with location, specifics etc, its labourious, sometimes didnt work and i couldnt find anything i was looking for in any detail!
The search by category has been changed into different categories and sub categories, you had to open up other pages to see what was in there, just a bloody webbing nightmare. Put me off using it ,just wasnt ebay as you know it.Last edited by Baseley09; 12-03-2008, 15:30.

I'd appreciate some advice from some more experienced ebayers please...
I put an item up for auction for the first time the other day with only a buy it now option and I stated it was for delivery in UK. Somebody bought the item but it's rather suspicious; they have a German address, and they have no feedback and only registered that day.
I sent a polite message asking them to confirm their address as I'm only posting within the UK and I haven't heard from them. I've not received any payement either.
Now I wanna just be done with this but what's the done thing? Should I just relist, or open a non-payement dispute? I'd really just like to relist as soon as possible.
Cheers for any advice
**edit
Very odd the account says no longer a registered user. Oh well, I suppose I'll just report it and start again.Last edited by aubtin; 12-03-2008, 23:29.

Then relist the auction from the original "sold" listing in "my eBay" that way if it sells on the relist, you will not be charged the listing fee (since you had a non payer and you filed the dispute)
Hope this helps.

I've since received a couple of emails in broken English, one of which was a fake paypal one telling me I'd received funds, asking me to ship the item to Nigeria. Bloody scammers. I've reported these to ebay and paypal but I suppose nothing will come of it.

Got a ****ing problem with Paypal - the *****. Sold 2 iPhones to one guy in February and the guy paid with paypal. He's confirmed and everything so I thought all is safe. Shipped to the address on paypal (confirmed) and that was that. Few days ago log on to paypal and I'm negative ?600, says the buyer has reported transaction was unauthorised. I've found the guy has removed his account off ebay (searching for his username no longer comes up at all). I've rang paypal and asked them what the **** is going on, given them tracking details (was sent special delivery) and they said I'll find out soon. Do I actually stand a chance of getting my money back? On the royal mail website i've put in the tracking and it says a signature is not available (but says it was delivered) so I rang royal mail asking what's going on and they've given me some bull**** about the signature not being found, so I'm claiming on those packages too...
Anyone gone through a similar thing? I'm willing to drive to this ****'s house and ask him what the ****s going on.

Not always due to a buyer not getting their goods & in fact the proportion of dodgy sellers to buyers is about even these days. There are a lot of scammers out there doing this in order to get free stuff too. I should know as I got scammed 3 separate times within the space of 2 months by buyers who days later claimed the payment was unauthorized on their credit card. At the time I wasnt using a trackable postage method so Paypal would pay up & I lost out on about £90.
I send everything by a trackable method now.

If anyone pulls this **** on me again & I lose due to a new small print load of bollox added to Paypals rules then I wont hesitate to go round there or inform the cops.Last edited by EDDIE M0NS00N; 22-03-2008, 12:07.

I know ranting about ebay gets tiring and I'm possibly being a bit of a tight arse, but what's up with the fees? They seem to have gone through the roof...
Need some money to fund the rest of my year-off and I've been meaning to get shot of most of my games, cds, dvds and all the other junk I've got lying around, so I was going to shove a load of stuff up on ebay over the next week. It seems there now charging just shy of 10% final value fee on media, however. Add to that insertion fees, paypal fees, and your looking at around 15%-20%, unless I've got it wrong? Didn't it used to be closer to 5%?
