U wont find out that it was fraudulent until a few days after the payment was sent due to PP's s..l..o..w security processes, by which time you will have posted out the item in question.
If the payment is fraudulent then the payment will be reversed back to the buyer & u will have given away the item for free, unless the buyer is honest enough to pay via another method, which he probably wont because he wouldnt have used a dodgy card in the 1st place.
To be honest, even if u do follow the correct procedure i.e. send via a trackable method, u may still not be covered. I just dont know with PP anymore!!
Good luck mate!!

Just to give you an idea of what idiots we deal with on ebay.
His message:
Received animal crossing for Game Cube. When tried to use it Cube said 'the disc could not be read....'. Tried cleaning disc, etc, although there are a number of scratches to back. All our other discs work fine & with no problems at all. Have tried it with a different memory card - no luck.
Please email back asap as have one very upset daughter, who has waited patiently for it to arrive & now feels she was conned.
Please arrange working replacement or other solution asap
Thanks
My reply:
Before we go on, can you confirm that your Gamecube is a UK PAL console?
His reply:
Hi. I assume so. Nothing on the box to indicate either way. Bought from 'Game' in UK some time ago. Normally takes any Game Cube disc - new or pre-owned. Is there anyway obvious to look for that info. No longer have handbook available.

Herein lies the problem then. The game, as I have clearly and concisely stated in both the item description and the title of the listing, is a US version and can only be played on American or Canadian consoles. You can play this on a UK console, but you need a special boot disc to be able to do so called a Freeloader. I have not conned anyone here, you have simply misread the description of my auction and then blamed me because it doesn't work!
I have a freeloader available if you want to purchase it; I can do this for an additional few quid if you need it, or find a link somewhere where you can buy one new.
I don't want to patronise you but next time you buy a game, make sure you check the region as most NTSC games won't work on a UK console without some way around it, the same way as a different region DVD won't play in yer dvd player!
My ebay listing:
For sale! The brilliant Animal Crossing for Gamecube. A Nintendo exclusive, this game is in mint condition and comes complete with instructions, inserts and free Animal Crossing branded memory card! It is a US/Canadian NTSC version and will play on NTSC Gamecube or Wii consoles. Game is tested and 100% working!!!
Paypal or bank transfer only (email for BT details). Any questions relating to postage or anything else are to be asked BEFORE the auction ends please.

In the import listings I do for the store I work at, the import status is mentioned about five times, twice in the description; one explaining it is designed for a foriegn machine and the second stating it is not compatable with EU machines (where applicable.) Despite this, we still get complaints that they don't work on UK machines.

I have sent several games (PS1, SNES etc) to the USA and then they have complained the game doesnt work, when I clearly state that its UK PAL and will NOT work on American, Canadian or Japanese NTSC consoles..
If you state this though, they have no comeback, just point it out and leave it at that..!
Funny as it may seem, most people buy on what they see in the pictures alone! They dont read all the description ;-) I think some guy put some text at the bottom of about 20 auctions saying if they quoted a particular word they got a free gift, and about 1/20 quoted the word..

the 1 and only negative feedback i have is because of this
sonic riders for the uk gamecube - stated UK/PAL in loads of places and i told him the same thing, he neg'd me
about a week later another chap on ebay messaged me stating that the idiot had bought a UK PStwo game and he neg'd him for the same reason

I had the same thing happen to me last yr.
An American dude bought a New & Factory Sealed PS1 FF Origins off of me.
About 2 wks later I get an email back saying it doesnt work & that he wanted an exchange or a refund. Although I mentioned in the auction title & in the auction that it was for a UK/Euro PS1, I sort of put 1 & 1 together & asked him what type of PS1 he had.
And yes, u got it!, he said he had a USA PS1.
I told him he wasnt going to get an exchange (didnt have 1) nor a refund because he didnt read the auction properly, especially the bit explaining it was for a UK/Euro console & to make sure their console could play UK/Euro games b4 buying in big red letters!
I might have given him a refund (minus the postage paid) if he hadnt opened it & played it. But I told him that because he opened it & tried to play it it was now gonna be classed as 2nd hand if I tried to sell it again so I would get less for it compared to a Sealed version.
He finally agreed that he was in the wrong although I'm sure many sly f**kers would have still used the PP dispute option to get their money back eventhough they were in the wrong!

Quick Ebay question
Am i right in thinking you only have the opportunity to leave feedback within 60 days of winning the item?
I have a couple of games i'm waiting on and the guy seems to keep fobbing me off.. am i able to leave negative feedback after 60 days or is he just buying himself time?
thanks.
