Indeed. The driver tracker is great. Enjoyable race. Great drive from Webber. Loved his "Not bad for a number two driver" comment. Thought Barrichello and Kobayashi did very well. Good recovery from Vettel and Jensen did well to gain 10 places.

stellar job from Webber, after what RedBull did on Saturday with giving HIS front wing to Vettel this is justice at is best ! I was really hoping Webber to take the win and he did in style !
For the rest it was a great race to watch, great job from Button, Vettel and Kobayashi ! It was also impressive to see Lewis keeping up with Webber through the race, I think Lewis got more out of the McLaren that was possible!
The championship is really close and I think this season we have so far is truly amazing with 4 drivers all in contention for the nr.1 spot at the end of the year !
Great stuff indeed !
@Mike, I bet you must have had an amazing weekend being there !!

We need a Legard/Brundle based drinking game for F1 viewing. Suggestions are:
Any reference to Alonso's "firey Latin temprament" - Down current drink,
"Battle is joined" (or any variant thereof) - Take a gulp,
"Need to use both compounds" - Drink a sip of your drink and one of your drinking partners (2 of your own drink if playing solo),
"Kobayashi used to be good in a Toyota" - 2 sips of your drink,
"Schumi isn't as good as he used to be" - 3 big gulps of your drink,
Mis-identification of driver by commentators - 1 sip,
Commentators missing crucial action, i.e. overtake for position, while blathering on about nothing - 3 sips,
That bird in the pits having to repeat herself because the driver doesn't understand - 1 sip,
Overtake by Red Bull - add Red Bull to your drink,
"Turn the engine down/manage the fuel" - 4 gulps,
Hamilton getting annoyed with team on the radio - 2 sips,
Big crash from the start - 1 gulp.
Shame the F1 races are on a Sunday really.Last edited by NW2013; 11-07-2010, 16:44.

What an improvement over last year! The atmosphere was just electric, particularly on the first few laps as Vetel went off and Button got an amazing start. Wow.
Support races on Sunday were great too, the GP2 & 3 drivers are absolutely insane. The last two laps of the GP3 race were just so impressive to watch. I can see some of those guys making it into F1 in a few years.
Also it was a nice change to have no Legard! Silverstone TV commentary (when you can hear it) was much better.
Bloody hot, but great, four days.

Vettel is dropping down in my estimation - It's disappointing to see the Bieber lookalike giving it large when he's winning, especially with that one finger salute and then having a face like a scorned child when he gets beat.
It's going to back fire on red-bull at this rate, it's hard to imagine Weber tolerating the favouritism on show through next season.
I don't think it was that great a race actually, it's easy to get a hard on because it was the British gp, but there are still serious issues with overtaking and it was highlighted again this weekend.

Redbull should be taking both the driver and team titles this season, but at the moment the main obstacle to that seems to be themselves. McClaren must be loving this.
If they don't sort out the now obvious tensions in the team they could find themselves with a Prost/Senna situation where the drivers are quite happy to punt each other off...

I had a roving grandstand pass which meant I could sit almost anywhere on the Friday and Saturday, then had seats for Luffield (the last corner not counting Woodcote) for the Sunday. I watched the 1st practice session and Qualifying overlooking the new Abbey corner, the 2nd practice session from Copse (had to blag my way in), and the 3rd practice session on Saturday from both Maggots and the grandstand overlooking the Becketts series of corners. The direction change through Becketts was unbelievable and I really got a sense of the power of the cars and the sheer balls the drivers need to drive through there at top speed. Maggots is spectacular because you can hear the cars coming from Copse corner but you can't see them, then as quick as they flash into sight they are already past you and into Becketts at about 180 mph. Not to mention that this is the closest pace you can get to the edge of the track (perhaps only Monaco and the Interlagos start/finish straight are closer). Fantastic.
The new Abbey right hander (which will become the first corner from next year) is a fantastic place to watch the cars, because again the drivers go into the corner full pelt and with the bump mid-corner you could see some of the drivers (usually the Lotus and Virgin cars) fighting to control the car as it bottomed out on the bump. A lot of cars went off there during the weekend. If I go back next year that's where I'll be getting a seat for Sunday as you'll see the pitlane, the spectacular first corner, and a lot of incidents.
What PeteJ said about all the support classes being impressive is exactly right. The Porsche Supercups were fun to watch as always, and the GP2 cars are supremely quick - I watched them from Stowe corner and they were breaking at the 50m marker, not much less than the F1 cars!
I also paid £40 to take a 6 minute helicopter ride high above the circuit - I'm scared of heights so this was a big deal for me. It was all over too quick - having a birds-eye view of the track and crowd below were amazing, I felt like I could almost pick up in my hand some of the cattle grazing in the nearby fields.
The crowd and atmosphere was really great as well though, the number of random people I ended up chatting to either sitting in the grandstands or just walking about was remarkable. All really decent people who know what they're talking about. Everyone was just having a great time, and the weather made it a real day out (or 3 days out!) for people young and old, parents with kids in tow etc. I was with a Polish friend (who had to have the full Renault/Kubica outfit of course) and we ended up sharing a few cans of lager with a slightly-the-worse-for-wear group of four Poles who were having a lads weekend away. Great stuff, even if sometimes they didn't make much sense!
In summary: great weather, fantastic circuit and new corners, brilliant spectacular cars, and most of all a great crowd and superb atmosphere. The true home of British motor-racing, and so glad it will be here for many years to come!Last edited by Senna; 13-07-2010, 19:21.
