On what count ? That if you have a TV capable of receiving a broadcast/TV signal you don't have to pay the Licence fee ? (lets not bring up the Tiny amount ITV gets from the Licence fee either )

I really don't get your patronizing attitude ether . People can find faults with F1 (even they support and follow the sport) and people can find faults with BBC and ask what on earth does it do with the money

Don't try and act innocent. The only time people are called out is when they deliberately attack or mock F1 or it's fans. I am only replying because you are misleading and bringing your normal bollocks in from the games side. If you want to kick (when it's an easy target) or discuss the BBC or the license fee then start a new thread.

You only need to pay for a tv license if you watch or record any live broadcasts (on a tv or a computer). If all you do is watch dvd's or game you don't need to pay. It has nothing to do with owning a tv.

The ted from the pits segment has more.

They think the exhaust was slowly destroying itself and the extended stop in the pits forced the temperature through the roof and bing-badda-boom. He mentioned the engine air bottle as the thing that blew.

Eric Boulier gave a really bizzare interview in the BBC Forum, putting the blame entirely on Heidfeld. Apparently when in the pit he was running on the limiter, and the car obviously isn't designed to be stopped on reved like that so it overheated.
Now, as Eddie Jordan put it, if that was the case surely we would have heard that? Also for a team manager to blame a driver so quickly for an incident like that is really off, he came across as a complete dick in my opinion!
That comment, plus his public remarks earlier in the week about being disappointed in Nick suggest that Heidfeld could be without a seat very quickly. Senna to make a return?

Yep, it was a very questionable interview. I watched it again on the web site just to make sure I heard him correctly.
He's in a very difficult situation. Mainly from the muppets that now own/run Renault, funding and he's loosing a lot of people to other teams. There are other grubby elements as well since he is involved with managing drivers (good replacement for briatore).

Heidfeld is coming to the end with Renault. You can see Senna being a nice fit for at least the brazilian GP. If he had good long term sponsors I would have expected him to have a lesser drive already.
Thinking about it too long would bring up the rough subject of Kubica.

On a side note, what's the situation if you're downloading the races from the net? I'm sure you know where I'm talking about, the places unaffiliated to BBC or BBC iPlayer?

I couldn't understand why they kept going on about how unusual it was for an F1 car to explode.

I saw that ****er on fire and as those two stewards or whatever they were were attempting to put out the fire, I said "THAT FOOKER IS GOING TO EXPLODE" and it did. Anyway, Heidfeld is extremely lucky to have no burns. I couldn't believe it when Lee Mckenzie asked him if he was scared. Doesn't that **** go without saying? Did she not see it? I'll let her off anyway because she looks like a good shag.

I don't think anyone here is deliberately attacking F1, more just saying what they feel about the sport .
Some may feel there's no issues, point to number of people that go to home race, or some view fig's , People do similar things with the FA Cup/Circket : the finals are always a complete sell out, list how may people still watch it around the world , point to the investment in Cricket grounds ct but deep down are those sports really the draw they once was here in the UK ?

I don't think F1 is the draw it once was and people do just watch the sport not for the love of it, but some just out of habit and simply because there's nothing else on Sunday terrestrial TV. You can love a sport, follow it... yet not like the governing body, the rules changes or like the direction the sport is going Many people have enough to say about Football, Fifa and the state of the game, but I wouldn't get all high and mighty, make out they're not fans and don't know what they're talking about

I'm not happy with the direction F1 is going in, don't like the rule changes or the new tracks that come in. Which are more about the viewing spectacle for TV , than what's really the best track for racing - case in point the likes of Valencia (whch is more boring than the Hungaroring

Great race yesterday. The 2011 season is turning out to be one of the best I can remember for a while, even if the eventual winner is looking increasingly certain.

I use the beeb for programmes, music and radio, and their website for news, sport and iplayer. I love the niche, interesting documentaries on bbc4, the leftfield status of some of its radio stations, and it's my go-to site for comprehensive sports news. If the beeb went 'free market', then it would be a catastrophe for my tastes. There'd be even more crap on the beeb than now. It fulfills a significant public service for me, and its output, though largely risable, is at least accountable to the public interest. I'm aware that the organisation is often **** and full of overpaid tossers. But for the minority output alone, it's of immense value. Market forces dumb thngs down to maximise viewing figures and revenue. Programmes of interest to a niche section of the populace won't get a look in. I classify it alongside museums and art galleries as things funded by public money that I don't necessarily need or use, but recognise as vital to national cultural heritage. A huge amount of the money we send to the Government for social output isn't used by us, but that doesn't mean it should suffer under market forces.

When the beeb goes free market and it's showing even more repeats than now, the quality of the output hits rock bottom, and it starts to depend on foreign imports like Sky, then we'll realise how important it is. Foreign tv is f-ing awful, in Canada it was all adverts and imports, likewise in Germany when I visited.

Agree with every sentence. I've lived in a few different countries, have travelled to many more and, besides PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) in New York City which is okay but very badly funded, the TV in every country I've been to has always consisted of wall-to-wall mindless 'entertainment' with no effort to educate or promote art and culture. The BBC, for all it's faults and all the crap it churns out, at least produces programming that actively sets out to enage peoples imagination and teach us something about ourselves and the world we live in.

Last season was similar, just add Webber to the list. Though in my mind Massa won a race last year too, I know there's no record of it, but he did.
