Maybe it's a new spin to increase audience interest. You know...

one race there's six cars, the next there's a thousand, after that the drivers are without cars and they have to speed walk on feet, the next they have to drive backwards to complete the race whilst reciting latin, whereas the following event they have to drive with their eyes closed as they sing Whitney Houston songs in time with speed garage and gabba.

The FIA may be introducing whacky race style elements and laying the blame at a tyre company for cover. It's a conspiracy.
