Right then, I am now back into this now. Finished my second triathlon last week at Henly Upon Thames. I found it really hard work as the cycle was very hilly. Had a few runs since then and yesterday did my first serious run in a while. Got the Nottingham half marathon in September and have had a good look at my diet. I have always eaten well, but I could do better and I drink too much.
I hva eto work on my leg strength/speed so I am preparing for a world of pain in these coming weeks. The temptation is stay as I am with my decent stamina and slow running, but I know that if I want to cut my time down I will have to put in the hard work.

Little update from me, been jogging at least twice a week and up to 50 minutes now (going just over 4 miles, slow pace). Been out to some fantastic places in that time frame tho, some mornings its felt like the most natural thing in the world and I've loved it - others more like hell... Going to be hard to find time in the week for any longer jogs due to work, but Sunday mornings I'll be pushing the distance from here on. Goal is 10K without dying.

I've just finished a series of 4 10k's in successive weeks, including the Edinburgh 10k that's 5 down and 4 personal bests set. Well happy with that.

I'm now working through a 12 week training plan to prepare for another 10k in Sept.

Only joking, just going through the can't be arsed phase. Every other day i'm/was doing8k/5miles in 30mins is what ive been doing on the cross trainer, then 30 mins rowing machine, the back to the CT until i give up ha ha.
Lost 4 inches off the belly, but gained 1 1/2 stone without doing weights etc and i'm 19 1/2 stone Rugby type body
          Bloody hell!

Still being good on the food & drink, also went for my 1st cycle today & did a solid 2 hours. I'm sure that is very poor but its a start, I'd like to try jogging but I doubt i'd be able to do more than 100 meters! Always have been proper crap at running

Remarkably I did a 15min run on the treadmill non-stop today. More than I could hope to manage on the pavements.
Managing 45mins a day workout and already feel a lot fitter and it has only been 3 visits. Once I get the legs back in shape I will start on upper body.

Eating porridge for breakfast all weekdays. Forcing it down tbh.

Mix some nuts/seeds/dried fruit in with the porridge, makes a huge difference to the taste

I love it. I have it with salt.

Alternatively you could try blending the oats with skimmed milk and chocolate flavour protein and simply neck it.

                  My breakfast shake has:

                  1/2 pint of semi-skimmed milk
                  1 cup of oats
                  1 banana
                  2 raw eggs (1 yolk)
                  2 scoops of protein
                  1 tablespoon of peanut butter
                  1 tablespoon of honey

Makes about 1ltr of lovely choco-peanut-banana shake that takes about 1hr to down. You should also drink a big glass of water before you do anything in the mornings, this will give you an appetite for water all day long.

Ice cold water preferably, as it cools your body, thus increasing your metabolism rate giving you a better chance of burning of excess fat.

re the protien shake, nice one, good mix of all the essentials there

Are you going for weight gain or general fitness?

I'm up to 13st 9lb, the biggest I've ever been, although I'm neglecting my cardio exactly like I did before. My belly is huuuge too at the end of each day and I'm turding for England. Gaining a steady 2lb a week.

I look a bit gay as all my clothes are fitting tightly now. Beats being skinny still. I reckon for two weeks before I go away (23rd July) I'm going to work on single 100rep sets with a low weight, not having any rest between them either. I can't be arsed with the treadmill. I'm also going to cut the carbs and calories from my diet massively.

both really. this first month is mostly about getting into shape and getting general fitness, but i do want to gain some muscle mass as well.

Weird one today. Ran less than I expected and was shagged within 10mins light jog and got a stitch!

Is it the booze? Had 3 pints last night at a do and a large glass of wine at lunchtime.
