These are two older photos of mine which I've done some post processing on in Photoshop to liven them up.

Nice effect, looks really good. What effect is it?

            Uncropped image - enjoy

Its a combination of layers in Photoshop.

              1) Load the image
              2) Duplicate the background twice
              3) Set the layer now above the background layer to a blending mode of screen
              4) Set the top most layers blending mode to multiply
              5) Apply a gaussian filter to the top most layer (experiment with the blur value)

I'm not a fan of applying effects I'm afraid, nice to see you did it all yourself rather than just chose a filter though

You know me and cars, well, when you can't get to any real ones break out the toys (found these while clearing out some old junk):

The track days you gone on Alastair - how does that work? I take it you have to get a ticket or something.

I don't live that far from Silverstone but I've never been. I'm not that big of a motor sports fan but I do quite fancy trying my hand at some trackside photography.

Track days are usually pretty casual events if you're not on track. I've not been anywhere but Goodwood yet but there it is just an open event. I turned up the first ever time I went and had a chat to a marshal about what was acceptable and safe (motorsport can be dangerous kids). He advised I could go anywhere I liked around the outside of the track so long as I stayed the right side of the fence.

I think Silverstone would be pretty limited unless you have a very long lens and/or are happy to shoot through fences, it's a bit of a different set up there as they race real cars a lot so have FIA catch fencing (10 foot high) where Goodwood just has a little thing (4 foot) to stop you getting on the track.

It'd be good to go have a look though Ish if you have the time, check their calendar for what's on when and maybe give em a ring to check it's an open event you can gatecrash.

That is cheap. I wish they would deliver here as the same card is about 100GBP on Yodobashi Camera's site. Grrr.

Love this one Ish, worked out really well. I'll have a tinker about with similar settings you mentioned to see if I get get anything half decent.

I've been to loads of tracks days as a non-driver. Airfield days are the best cos you can get really close. Best to stand just before the corner on the outside to avoid dying. e.g. see attachment

Lots of snapshots (sadly all the vids are stuffed) here:

Oh and take a crash helmet. When you are bored of taking photos, find some people waiting to go out (there's normally a queue) with a spare seat. Jump in just as they are due to go and ask "do you mind if I join you?" Works every time. Using this, I've been out in everything. Lambos ferraris lotus porsches caterhams. Brilliant.
