Cheers Rob. Really like your pic too; the leaf in the foreground makes it for me as it contrasts nicely with the reflections. How you getting on with the D40 now?

Really like that feather pic too Ish, really nice colours.

getting on OKish. having a bit of trouble getting things like lightning up the foreground when the background is quite bright so my landscape shots always look a little ****, my course starts in a couple of weeks so hopefully i'll start picking up some tips and putting them into practice

Use the exposure compensation on the camera and knock it down to -1 stop ( that's the button with the +/- on ). Your skies won't be blown out then.

A variation on the earlier Feather shot. I took it at a variety of focal lengths. Prefer the earlier one but I like this one too.

Monkey Steve, love the snail, nice DOF
Martyg, really like the bike engine shot on the previous page
              Ish, the feathers are great

Here's some from Sissinghurst in Kent today (quite pleased with the first 2 macros as my lens isn't actually a macro one, it's my Nikkor 18-135mm!):

I love those flower shots but this is my personal fave of the day:

Keep up the good work people

Funkydan that is a nice capture of the girl singing, hand touching chest and everything; great timing.

                Just one from me today

Someone's been looking at my Flickr then
My 70-200 f/4L arrived this morning but it's been p*ssing down all day. Best shot I could get was a snail crawling across my deck as I lay on the floor in the house out of the rain.

I've been away (miss me?) great shots as always but too many for me to comment on individually at the mo, maybe tomorrow back at work!

One from the film camera before I went away:

And the first one from holiday:

Thanks for the comment already Ish.

I have a lot to share but no time to process them, I'll do them as as soon as I can.

                  One from me today:

                  And another

Had a really nice walk today but it wasn't as photo-amenable as I'd hoped! That or I struggled with the creative juices.

Haha, I genuinely hadn't seen that photo! Despite these sordid accusations of plagiarism, I still really like your hay bail pic

Lovely shots on this page today. Funkydan those flower shots are great, especially considering they weren't shot through a macro lens! Your photo has a lovely prehistoric feel to it Ish, as if there was a t-rex footprint just out of shot!

Just a couple today, I couldn't resist snapping them

Some great photographs here. Can you guys give me some advice. Im just about to re-start my photoblog for a project over the next 4 years. I had before a simple point and shoot camera. I love morning/evening/night shots - and the point and shoot just cant handle it. My budget isnt massive, I wanted to get a Cannon EOS 350D but the damn things are still too expensive, even on ebay (£280). Im looking at spending maxium £180. Im a novice in this but any help would be appriciated.

This one's really going to depend on your monitor set-up. I still think it's a bit dark though so will probably have another go at processing it tonight.

While I was away I used the kit lens 95% of the time and got thoroughly frustrated with it. It's too soft, too slow to focus and too plastic. So, for a walkaround lens I've now got my heart set on the 17-40 f4L BUT, f4's not all that for a walkaround and also around £480. Am I right in thinking Sigma do a comparable lens that is cheaper but has a lower f number? Anyone used it or knows how it compares to the Canon? Is this the right Sigma? 17-35mm f2.8-4 EX DG HSM - only 35mm is a worry. They do a 17-70mm too but I want as close to L (image) quality as I can get.

Just been looking a bit more, what about Tamron? 17-50mm f2.8 XR Di-II LD ASP IF or less a tenner for the 17-35 version.

EDIT - changed the shot, brighter version now, think it works much better.

Yes, a little dark maybe but still a nice image.

EDIT: In fact, looking at the biger version, I think it just lacks a bit of contrast in the midtones and could do with a little exposure bump.

Just found out that I've had 6 more images published in this months Hip-Hop Connection mag. No-one thought to let me know of course.

I need to get paid for this ****

Like that Yellow Flower pic FunkyDan - it's very nicely lit.

Alastair - Sigma are doing an 18-50mm f2.8 for around the £350 mark which looks quite nice: http://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/len...28&navigator=6 - I suspect that'd be better quality than the 17-70 ( that's not an EX lens ), though I've gotten some great results with it.
