Never heard of them Dan, sounds pretty expensive for a 2 day course (if I've looked in the right place) but if you've got the funds then why not. Any sort of learning is good learning.

Got the film back from the lab, pretty pleased with the scan job they've done too. Think I'll have to try pushing the film though as I've had to increase the contrast by around 30% all shots.

Think I may have wobbled on this one as the focus is out, was shot at 2.8 so a small wobble backwards could easily have de-focused everything. Shame as I like it a lot otherwise.

And some San Andreas Graf, they'll paint anything down here!

Some nice shots there - nice dramatic sky in that second one.

You might want to think about getting some B&W filters too ( red, green in particular ). These can change the colour contrast quite dramatically

The 40D is a peach. I would like one but I know it won't make much of a difference so I will hold off (for now)

Hiya, Anyone here using online printing? What do you recommend?
I have looked at snapfish, photobox and pixum.

              Any others?

Sorry saif, never used any online printers myself.

Does anyone know the benefit of doing the Licentiateship with the RPS and therefore getting LRPS after my name? I've seen some work recently that got the grade and I think with a little work and a decent subject I could achieve it without too much problem but I don't know what the 'point' would be.

There's a short discussion about it here. After searching around, it seems to be a sort of badge for the amateur with aspirations. Which is perfectly reasonable!
Anyway, the consensus seems to be that there's very little advantage in real terms to having those letters. But it'd probably be good for your confidence etc.

Thanks Magnakai, reading that puts me off a bit actually. Was kinda what I was thinking may be the case though.

I went to Burleigh House in Stamford this morning for a coffee and took the camera with me ...

Took a lot of House Martin pics, but none were really that sharp - I don't really have the right lens for this kind of work as they are extremely fast. This was the best of the bunch.

                      Something fishy

                      A flock of Martins

                      Burleigh in Shadow

And the King of the Jungle

Oooh, some of those are looovely.
Really great colours and nice, sharp crops. Quite stock photography-like, in a good way.

Also, can't believe I didn't comment on those b&w shots Alastair. Very nice, especially the middle one. Nice brooding sky.

                            Hi Guys

Im quite interested in getting into photography and have contacted the local collage in regards to a part time evening course in photography (just waiting to hear back from them)

Im looking at cameras at the moment but i notice there is quite a big difference in prices between a normal digital camera and an SLR. Im not sure i want to go spending all that money on an SLR just to lose interest in it (although im sure i wont) so what im asking is if anyone can recommend a decent digital camera for around the £200 mark?

A couple ive been looking at are the:

                            Canon S3 - http://www.trustedreviews.com/digita...rShot-S3-IS/p1

                            Fujifilm FinePix S5700 - http://www.trustedreviews.com/digita...nePix-S5700/p1

                            Any help would be appreciated

                            I currently have a canon ixus i - http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews8636.html

If you've got £200, it could well be worth saving the extra, and plumping for the Nikon D40. There's a £60 cashback offer going on right now, so you could get the camera and a kit lens for £280 or so.
I know that proportionally that's almost 50% extra, but if you're interested in studying photography properly you're really going to need an SLR. As far as I know, the D40's a really good camera and that kit lens is meant to be quite nice.
Put it this way - in my opinion that £280 will go a heck of a lot further than £200 will.

On the other hand, if you're determined to get a compact, then most decent Canon or Fuji ones seem to be the way to go. The ones you've suggested are certainly fine cameras, though I'd be surprised if you'd regularly need such deep zooms. I wonder if you might find more use for extra width. What sort of things do you think you'll be shooting?

Really though, I think you're best off digging a bit deeper and getting an SLR.
