Here are a few of the shots I took from Andromeda botanical gardens. Where I saw the biggest bee in the world!

It's getting so tempting to get a DSLR as much as I love the G9 i'm beginning to see it's limitations. Still love it though

I tried to get a shot of them swimming underwater but it was too dark and all the images turned out blurred. I like that one though

I hope its nice this weekend, I really want to go out and take some photos. Its such a waste when its raining.

Is anyone up for a monthly photo competition? We pick a theme and have a month to take some pictures. I think it would be great to see how we all interpret the themes. The winner can pick the next months subject material.

Sounds like a nice idea to me Herb - I'd certainly be up for that. Maybe get a mod to pick the first theme and have a thread dedicated to the comp?

I'm quite excited as I have just bought a Tokina 70-210mm f4-5.6 lens from Ebay It's in good nick and is AIS so will fit my D200 - looking forward to having a go with that £10 + £5 postage

I think this is a great idea - there is a similar thing on another site I visit, and it's a really great way to motivate you to get out, think about new ideas and most importantly, take photos.

I'd be up for it.

Seriously though, it is a good way to improve, as it does get you thinking about new ideas..

I just took part in the Rllmuk comp, it was my first one and only two people voted for me, one for first, one for third. I was well chuffed with that.


I've got no chance of winning it but those two votes made me feel awesome.

Same here (but on a different site) - I've had a handful of votes each month on the last couple of times I've entered, and just getting a few votes does make you feel good.
