I thought it was just a regular dragonfly but I guess it was too small for that! Never managed to get one showing its fangs (?) so quite pleased with that!

Hi all. Very long time no visit! Life has been hectic to say the least. Am now all setteld in my new life, down under.

Anyway, have been working my way through the thread and am totally amazed by the quality. Huge improvements and so much great stuff.

Malc -no, no filters for that one, although an ND filter is something I am looking at getting myself.

For that shot, I just metered off of the sky and hoped for the best.

Pete - Scary critter - I find these insect macros amazing - so much detail.

Gareth - Lovely photo - as Pete says, great colours, and I like the patches of light as well.

The first one and this one are really nice Dan.

Spags, the last one's really nice, but the heavy green colour's a bit off-putting. The first one might be nicer with a tighter crop into the centre, perhaps cutting off about half of each of the surrounding planes.

Thanks Mag, I do like the one you linked to, but was disappointed when editing my pics to find that it was slightly out of focus, or a bit soft at least - it would have been super mega cool if it was as sharp as some of the others.

I've been using my Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 almost exclusively of late and I love it. Such nice sharp shots (for the most part ) and very quick to focus in low-light too. What a good purchase it was (secondhand too!).

Ooooh I've been thinking about getting a lens of that range, was looking at the 17-40 4.0 L from Canon but its a bit pricey. How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking?
