Ironically, Garf's picture elicited no such feelings, so perhaps the use of the lego figures made his image totally abstract and I could not associate with the original...

    ... or I am a raging hypocrite.

Either way I still think its great work, its had me thinking for hours, which I am sure you appreciate is a bigger compliment than whether or not I actually like the picture/subject.

Al, do you think if you hadn't mentioned the original prize winning pic, that people would have noticed what your inspiration was? I don't mean that maliciously at all, just wondering what people would have thought...

How about this B&W conversion? I did a more contrasty one too, but thought I'd test the waters first.

I've a suspicion a lot of people would have pegged it anyway, certainly people interested in photography, as its such a famous photo.

Probably, but I just think that although the photo was inspired, I think it stands well on its own as well.

I prefer the B&W conversion as I felt the camera got lost in Al's original picture.

Dunno. Adam has got some stick on his version for doing an overtly 'comedy' version of it. I'm not sure if people would have got it or not. I'm not too fussed though, just wanted to explain why we did what we did.

Nah, I did one the same myself but it's all wrong on my face. Could you take it down by the way? I'm not keen on bigger size copies of my work floating about. Feel free to play around with the medium size one if you want though

I would if I had more time to actually get out and take photos...

In between work and having a family, I find I don't get the time to get out as much as I like - that's hopefully going to change though, as I am going to start taking the camera with me more...

Theres some stuff on my flickr, but I still need to get a bit better before posting on here - there's some really great work here

Sorry Alastair, I didn't think about that. It's gone now.

Funny you mention that, Spag. I did independently raise the camera, as it's not that contrasty against the door.

First up, agreeing first and foremost that it was a great shot. Must admit I didn't know the original but as a stand-alone it's an interesting concept. My only comment would be in the same vein as Spag's, and that whilst I prefer the original I did find the camera lost a bit in the contrast.

I sent a rather grovelly e-mail to a promoter yesterday about the possilibity of shooting some gigs, not expecting anything back but fingers crossed anyway!

I've been too busy recently but just to say that you guys with good cameras and lenses are making me very nervous, I'm already looking a DSLR reviews and I've not even had the G9 a month! lol

Anyways, here's a few i've snapped along the way...

                          Settling down for the night

                          Spidey...

..and playing around with exposure got these two shots, no pp done at all...

I was pleased to get any kind of shot from these as the wind was blowing around so much, not as in focus as i'd like but it's ok...

I took the plunge and bought myself a Nikon D40 today. Now need some time to get used to it!
