I like the second swing shot Tommy - interesting composition.

Nice one HaHa - you won't look back (though your wallet might!)

I know the subject of colour management in browsers has come up in here before. Its now supported it Firefox 3 but you have to enable it.

Enter about:config in the URL bar, skip the tedious warning, and set gfx.color_management.enabled to true.

          Worth doing imo.

              That's awesome RobRoy!

On the subject of photoshop, I would really like to get to know what to do with it.

Can anyone recommend me a good online site or book or DVD that can teach me the basics?

              Please 'n' Thank you

Haven't checked this thread in ages! Just wanted to say what an awesome job you have all been doing, I don't think I've ever seen it as busy as this before. I feel slightly guilty that I haven't been shooting at all!

Al - I loved your shot, I looked longer at it than most due to what it was saying. I hadn't heard the story of the original photographer before, but your shot has a dark twist to what is otherwise fairly light hearted. Interesting stuff, you should try out some more high concept images

For a book on Photoshop, I use this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adobe-Photos...527426-6926227
It's quite indepth but also well written and easy to follow. Youtube also has some good videos to follow.

tommy do you have a link to your photostream? want to add as a contact but can't work it out from your photograph links.

I prefer the 2nd swing shot. I think in general its best to have the nearest chain in focus.

If your looking for a free Photoshop alternative I recommend The Gimp. Masking tools are good, does layer masks, and all the usual level & colour controls. The important filters are there, gaussian blur, unsharp mask, edge detect etc. It doesn't have an organiser but Picassa does a good job of that (and Picassa runs very smoothly).

While we are kind of on the topic does anyone have any printer recommendations?

Thanks, glad you like it, as said before, making people think is as much the point for me now as getting pretty pictures.

Will do though boss, throw some suggestions at me, Adam and I will be out shooting again whenever we can.

Has anyone had any experience of using macro rings/lenses such as these ones here? Been testing out macro on my D40 and cant seem to get very close to the subject

I've got a set and they are OK, though not up to a standard Macro lens of course. When you say you can't get close, do you mean can't get close and still focus?

Might have to try out a set as theyre like a tenth of the price of a dedicated lens lol.

I can get a bit close (see the picture below), but any closer than that and it wont focus properly (both in auto and manual).

                              Tommy,

A nice tip is to create some sets to arrange your pics into categories. Add some tags, send the pics to some groups and your view count will rocket. That is if you are a view count whore like some of us.
