I think I know the Jessops you're on about - that fountain is a short walk up from it.

Some nice photos the last few posts.

Looking around flicker I find more and more interesting stuff, I like reading people's profiles and chasing links - it really does eat up loads of my time. I found this group, which is dedicated to photos of prime numbers. Which I think is great

I'm going to Ashton near Marazion in Cornwall next week for hols, so I'm hoping to get some decent photo opportunities. Unfortunately I've not been able to splash out on either the 17-70mm Sigma or the 105 Macro. I might look to see if there are any photography shops nearby when I'm there.

Wow! Great photos from literally everyone in here, especially Charles' recent holiday snaps.

I'm sans computer most of the time now, so I'm barely on here, and even more barely able to upload pics. But it's still nice to drop in from time to time.

            Great shots!

I've spent hours taking photos in the past week taking shots, must have taken over 300 since the start of last week.

It's very depressing however, to find that I've been unhappy with all of them! That said I do not regret the time as I have learnt an awful lot. On Sunday I discovered a huge expanse of countryside right next to my house which has been opened up, look forward to returning there when the lighting is better!

I think my problem at the moment is that I'm getting hung-up on one particular 'skill', in this case I'm still trying to get a good HDR shot. I'm getting there finally, though, and should be able to post something tonight. Perhaps

There's nothing wrong with that, for every couple of hundred shots I take I like maybe 1 or 2. I've taken over 4000 shots with my D50 now, and put about 100 up on flickr, ie, the ones I think have been worth uploading. It's great that there's the ability to take that many without having to worry about development costs.

One roll of 36 exp 35mm film for 6x4 prints = around ?7 a go.

              4000 / 36 = approx 111

              111 * ?7 = ?777

In case anyone is interested, all my shots are done with a Canon Ixus 50, which you can pick up for ?160 at amazon (+ cost of bigger faster card and spare battery)

Thats nothing dude so I wouldn't worry about it!

I took about a hundred on Saturday and 250+ on Sunday alone. Like the swan: I took, literally, about a 150 different photos of that from different positions and with it doing different things. Out of that came 2 that I vaguely liked. And still thought: could do better.

There's two up that way, but i was playing in the larger store. Was tempted by the Canon 100-400 IS but thought better of it. Settled for a more modest 70-200 and the Macro instead. The 100-400 was nice but big and heavy. Not too sure if i'm a fan of the push/pull zoom mechanism either. Just need to get out more now

Does this work? Can't decide myself.
1st image is a plain shot (the very definition of! But purposesly so)

The second is an 'HDR' shot, using the Photomatix software. I haven't bought it yet, hence the ugly watermark.

Almost, not enough DoF for my tastes, with the limited DoF I'd suggest the centre of the rose was the point of focus.
