So many shots on my holiday that it's easier just to link my flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/martypg13/

I've more photos to put on there, plenty of great light that has made some nice shots. It's great to have something new to photograph.

Thought i'd contribute with 15 of my favourite shots taken on various holidays i've been on.

Some nice stuff there - shame you haven't explained what most of them are about.

          Thanks Marty.

Most of them are self explanatory but there are images taken from Barcelona (mostly Gaudi?s work), Venice (houses on the water), Norway (the wishing stones and beach) and locally around where I live (Orchid, Trees, statue). In my opinion naming photos creates a preconceived idea in the viewers head and detracts from the image itself. Images are themselves meant to create personal ideas/emotions. Pictures paint a thousand words, why ruin them by attaching just one or two.

That's fair enough - I prefer to add a title to all my photos and tag them.

Uploaded the second and final batch from my hols. I took over 1300 photos whilst there, and I got a few nice shots. I think out of all of them my favourite was this one of a seagul on the wind, mostly because the lighting was so nice. It never did get the same on any other day, there was a lot of haze on the other sunny days.

blue, sea, sky, sun, bird, animal, d50, flying, nikon, cornwall, bokeh, wildlife, gull, tamron, seagul, 28200mm, sunkissedbirds, animalkingdomelite, abigfave, avianexcellence

I did try to get a new lens when in Penzance from the Jessops there, but they had neither of the ones I was after in stock :/

I've also done some multiple exposures to try Pete's HDR suggestion out further back in the thread.

The Judgement Day group is better, some people in the score me group slate some shots for really bizzare reasons.

Excellent shots Marty, some look straight out of a postcard. The sea looks perfect!

TommyG - also some awesome shots.

Cheers Pete - I saw a lot of stuff I didn't really expect when I was there. I think the best of these were the Basking Sharks in the bay below Minack Theatre ( and seals and dolphins, sadly I didn't take my 400mm lens so the Dolphins are too small to post ). It's almost Mediterranean there; with the white sands and turquoise sea. To see the huge black creatures meander through the water was quite spectacular.

that seagull photo's ace. what camera/lens/settings for that?

Not had a chance to give it a go yet - I'll post them up when I have.

Good to see so much activity here and seemingly we're inspiring people too. I got a DSLR for the same reasons as a couple of others have mentioned, true viewfinder, shutter lag and the control you have, my point and shoot has full manual but it's too tricky to use to make it worthwhile.

Marty, some lovely shots. Looks like you had great weather and beautiful scenery. Where is the castle? I recognise it.

I bought myself a rocket blower at the w/e to try and tackle my sensor dust issues. Seems to have gotten rid of about 50% + at the mo so I'll have a few more blows to try and shift the stubborn bits. Also got a polarizing filter for the lens I didn't have one for. Ordered myself a Lowepro Slingshot bag late last week as well. Fingers crossed it gets delivered before I go to Goodwood on Friday.

Didn't take too many shots though.

Cheers - the castle is St. Mawes

The weather was decent most days, but a bit too dull when I went to Goonhilly, so most of my satelite dish shots are lost due to the dishes being a similar colour to the sky :/

Thought so, stayed there a good few years ago. Nice little town that. Must get down to cornwall again soon, love the place.
