just because you inform people of something far enough in advance doesn't make it acceptable or any less inconvenient to them.

I replied a couple of times but I think some people are just wankers incapable of understanding something bigger than themselves.
I've just resigned myself to the fact that everyone hates us, Gordon Brown, the media, the general public, even Vanessa Feltz had a dig at us in one of the tabloid rags yesterday. Actually, that last one raised my spirits a bit. If we don't achieve anything else, at least we've pissed off Vanessa Feltz.
How's the job hunting going, anyway? Any success yet?

The internal problems RM employees may have are really rather irrelevant to the general public, and should, in my opinion, have been sorted out without disrupting services as the current action is penalizing the public through no fault of their own. It's unfair.
Small businesses are really suffering due to these strikes and if just one business goes bust as a result then whoever instigated these strikes should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
One last point - in other fields of work, such as my field (video games) the concept of striking is just unimaginable. If someone feels they are not getting a fair deal, they leave hand in their notice and then leave. Maybe I sound like some sort of free market capitalist evangelist, maybe not, but I've always believed the customer comes first and you never, ever let them down if you can possibly avoid it.

Everyone had 2 weeks noticed about the strike, so they should be aware of it.
I wonder if the general public are being considered in this industrial action at all - certainly doesn't appear that way! I appreciate that the posties are having a rough time at the mo, but you have to expect some kind of backlash! Mrs Smith has every right to be pissed off if little Timmy doesn't get his birthday card from Granny. I will probably be quite put out if there is a strike next month when it's my birthday. So, just don't assume that you have everyone's support, as it is a major inconvenience for most!

From royalmail.com:
Special Delivery will continue to be a priority throughout the period of disruption. We have well developed contingency plans, and will do all we can to deliver Special Delivery items on the due day. However, money-back guarantees have been suspended for items posted on 4th October onwards. These will be reinstated as soon as we are sure we can fulfill the service promise.

Might as well hand Jebus the NTSC Score Whore of the Week avatar right now
Seriously though this has gone too far now - I'd imagine most businesses who rely on the mail will now be selecting alternative partners and not with a view to it being a temporary thing.
My orange box ain't gonna get here for some time now but I pity most those of you waiting for PGR4 today.
Ill-Judged.

While I've got every sympathy with the posties on this I do think this is starting to get out of hand now.
Can't say I'm particularly happy with them announcing a whole 5 days of action for next week. And people / buisnesses will only get more and more pissed off with them if this keeps happening. Especially given that we're heading towards Xmas.
Both the Royal Mail and Unions need to pull their fingers out of their arses and sort this out ASAP. Or they'll all be out of a job.
