I believe the lads and lasses in Liverpool had a mass meeting last Friday to decide on whether to cease with their unofficial action and return to work. The result of which 800 CWU members voted to still stay out and not a single vote was cast to return. No doubt there was an element of peer pressure, but I do greatly admire that kind of strength and solidarity. I don't imagine for a minute that it's been fun losing all that money.

Don't agree with unofficial action myself, but who can blame them when we've all seen how dirty RM can be? Firstly using our "Spanish practices" against us, which they themselves implemented, and then with the pay shenanigan's last week. Add to the fact that we at least did try and play by their rules and what do they do? They run to a judge to get a court injunction to stop the strikes that were planned for this week. Just because some lawyer hasn't dotted the i's and crossed the t's.

I'm just completely disillusioned with it all. When news started filtering out that a deal had been agreed late Friday night, instead of feeling great, at last a return to normality, I just had this horrible sinking feeling. No doubt the deal will include some good and some bad. Just depends on how bad the bad is. Either way, I'm just too tired and depressed to care anymore, and I'll be ticking the box that puts an end to this ****e. Then I think I'll retreat to a Tibetan monastery to heal my wounds and prepare for other battles to come. Y'know, like in Rambo 3.

Having never been on strike or even looked into it much, is there anything to stop people who want to work, just going into work and getting on with the job?

Don't the union stop you? Like if they've decided on it, you've got to go along with it.

          I THINK.

Don't quote me on that though

You can still go in and work if you want, can't you? You just run the risk of being called a scab and all your colleagues hating you?

It's ****, we all hate it, the customers hate it, my wife hates it (problems with child care) but we're not all walking out.
I totally agree with you on this adam mate, and these select few walking out because of it does seem a bit drastic!

My office in scotland had an ption 18 months ago to move our start times back by 45 minutes, which we did, so all this I dont really have a problem with!

You know its good they seem to have come to some sort of arrangement, and we can all get back to doing what we really want to do (OUR JOBS), heres to the terms they have drew up for us actually being worthwhile, and hopefully all us postmen havent given up plenty of pay for no reason!

It's illegal for striking staff to physically stop you going to work. If you're not in the union or don't agree with the action you can go into work as normal. The law only allows striking employees to hold a peaceful picket line and to deliver literature and/or a 'reasonable' argument to staff going into work, as to why they should support the strike.

The only exception is when the employer holds a lock-out, preventing anyone from entering the premisis so as to put pressure on a minority who take industrial action. This may be illegal in the UK, not too sure about that.

If they call you that, that's pretty much an instant dismissal.

Nowdays PC rules the world and you cannot say what you think, bullying and harrassment are the buzz words at the moment.

You cannot stop anyone crossing the picket line, I've crossed our twice and been ON the line twice. It was horrible crossing the line, I said good morning as I always would have, a few responded, a few didn't.

It's very very unpleasant and I don't envy anyone who had to do it recently.

Bugger, still no damn sign of this special delivery sent out last week.Things are starting to get on my tits now.

And that track and trace service is a bloody joke.

I'm waiting on a game sent on Thursday and a recorded delivery item too. I should be getting a special delivery sent today so I hope it arrives tomorrow.

I suspect it's going to take a while to clear the backlog

I'm also gonna go on record and say that I don't think this is over yet. Just my opinion but I just can't see where or how this amazing deal that they both agree on suddenly came from. The CWU and RM are so vehemently opposed on the offers being chucked about, I can't see how they will have compromised so radically.

ExpertKing, PM me your track and trace number and tomorrow I can use the internal audit trail system to tell you where it was last scanned, if that is any help to you. Can't do it today as it's my day off.

Had no jiffy bags for a week now at work. It's no good at all.

If it's any consolation, I myself am waiting on 2 first class jiffy bags sent on thursday. I really do appreciate how infuriating it is.

Just got my parcel. Delivered by a young lady in regular clothes and sounded southern. Looked more like an office worker. Hope it all gets proper sorted soon, fellas and ladies.

I'm waiting on a contract of employement. My last one expired friday last week and the replacements been in the post for a while. Nothing signed or agreed to at the moment so I'm currently working for free Fortunately I don't want to renew, so this is helping me bide my time until I find another contract Nothing comes along then I will just end up signing when it does arrive. No rush...
