Number 45 thats a debate thats been on all teh radio stations, with caller quizzing if their employer can actually do it - which it turns out they can. Its kind of unfair but if teh roles were reversed, you wouldnt like to pay staff for not coming into work. Sucks both ways really........

Jus found out that the collegaue who was rushed to A&E is having surgery Apparently he fractured his elbow and bits/chunks of bone are floating around. Doesnt sound good at all..........

Snow, who'd had funk it ehh......... Something so simple can make everything go wrong.......

We had an email round today saying that Wednesday and Thursday we would be paid for but if we can't make it in we either have to take it as an unpaid day, holiday OR make the hours up. They let us go home early today

One last pic, as I imagine its not going to snow anymore in Oxford.

Man these snow pictures making me depressed...central London practically has none, all the roads are just really icy and slippery to walk on

The mound on our wheelie bin is so high that it couldn't take anymore snow - it now just falls down the sides, it's a peak about 1.5 ft high. The 6 inches on the fence has got so high it has collapsed over, lol.

I shall be having words tomorrow.
Yep they can indeed make you. However they are liable for any accidents caused by making you come to work in dangerous conditions and should really foot the bill if you have to stay in a hotel or whatnot.

First time someone injures themselves and they find themselves defending a 5 figure compensation claim, they'll quickly change their policy.

An employer can't make you come to work, but they can insist you take any days off as unpaid leave or holiday.

They won't be liable for nowt if you have an accident either. It's still your choice whether to come in or not and there's no way they could forsee you would definately have an accident.

If its a extreme warning (where the govt tell you not to go in) which it was yesterday in some places does that still apply?

I think 45's argument is that he can work from home perfectly fine, why risk coming in? Admittedly not everyone can do that, but some of us can (I've been here the last two days doing same as usual).

I've watched the 3 hour-chunked 24 hour weather forecast on bbc text all day, and they're just making it up as they look out of the window. The bint on Look North has been talking bollocks for two days now, wrong, wrong, wrong all round. Meant to be snowing all day for two days during the daytime - has it nowt.

The news is hilarious. Main "news" today was that people are not coping with the snow (backed up by footage of a car wheel spinning and some woman falling on her arse), and also that people who don't turn up to work won't get paid.

                              Wo thats pretty.
Only upshot of all this snow is our solar tubes have gone into overdrive. Bolier has been off for 24 hours and the water in the tank is still 64c!

I can't believe that pic. Ireland is still green, yet the mainland look like Siberia.
