Last night going home (in the sleet and the dark), I walked passed a paper recycling bin that belonged to a small set of flats (converted house type) and sitting at the top was a N64 box in suprisingly pristine condition, bar being wet. When I say pristine, I mean none of the crushed, worn or folded edges on the box that you'd expect. I mean, apart from the top being a bit wet, it looked like a new console box would look had you just put it outside.
Anyway, made me wonder if there was a NTSC-UK'er living in those flats (in Sidcup) who was playing 'Sin and Punishment' as I wandered by, cold and wet

Two guys I served with in the army are on the BBC today about how they still haven't been compensated for Iraq war injuries:
The blonde guy is Keegan and I didn't know him to speak to (he was in C company I think and I was in A) but being in an infantry battalion is like being at school and you get to know everyone by sight. Anyways, he took grenade shrapnel to the legs and I presume his man-bags becuase he's waiting for the results of a test to see if he's infertile.
The other guy, Challis, had all the muscle and tissue torn off his right upper-arm by an AK round. It looks proper nasty now. He's had a skin graft but there's nothing left underneath so you can see his bone poking out.
One of the corporals who traind me in depot also got his left hand shot off. but that's not in the story. I guess there are probably others as well.
I guess I should be glad I left when I did or that could be me instead

Otherwise it'd be a potentially bottomless money-pit of pay-outs...

Well there you go. Basically they don't give a ****, they just use you up and throw you away just like they always have done.
Believe it or not the very concept of getting a lump sum in compensation for war injuries is new to the British forces. I left in 2003 and there was no such thing even then.
