Politicians (and the public at large for not thinking) are retarded. The only reason these new car tax rates have been put into place is that it guarantees the government money - surely they are worried that with the price of petrol on the forecourts rising so fast, people will have to curb their petrol spend, so tax from forecourts will not increase in line with the increase in petrol prices, and thus missing their taxation targets, so they have to find another way to guarantee extra money (at least in the short term).
I've been saying for years that road tax is completely wrong and should be scrapped and tax should go up on petrol instead so that people who use a lot are the ones that pay.
This stupid new budget will cripple some.
Imagine the 75 year old who's had their car since the 70's and just uses it once a week to go shopping and pick up their pension - they will be screwed. What might they have to consider? Buy a tiny new car! But buying a new car is the green equivalent of an oil tanker spill - the amount of natural resources involved is vast. The planet is much better off if the person keeps their old car. All these people that think they are being green by selling their 16 month old Jeep that does 20mg and buying a brand new Lexus 4x4 petrol/electric that does 35mpg are actually raping the planet. By buying our old Classics and stuff we are being green OMG I'm ranting. Sorry.
While I'm at it, can I mention how retarded stamp duty is? Instead of being like income tax where the higher 40% only gets applied to the income above the limit, the higher rate stamp duty gets applied to the whole lot, so selling a house at 1p more than the limit could cost you ?1000s. Moving the limit didn't fool anyone Mr Brown. Stop me. Please. heheh.

Just tried to speak to the fool who knocked me off my bike on Wednesday and broke my arm. Even though he answered the phone and comfirmed who it was I was speaking to he then tried to claim I had a wrong number and he didn't know what I was talking about. When I calmly explained to him that I had a photo of his van and number plate he went quiet for a second and then said I still had the wrong number and hung up. What a twat. It's up to the cops now, he has just made things worse for himself.Comment

The bloke opened the door of his van without looking as I was cycling past him. I hit his door and was knocked off into the road and fell off my bike. It was only the good driving of the bloke coming the other way that saved me from some serious injury.
The bloke game me his number but I was in such a state of shock that i didn't ask for any witnesses and after having a bandage put on my wrist limped away pushing my bike with me. When I got back to work I was made to go straight to hospital.
I have broken my arm and have cut leg and some bruises.Comment

I wasn't planning on it at the time, but I have reported it to the police as I was told that you had to. Since he has decided to be stupid I think I will push for a claim, but I am now thinking he will have no insurance.Comment
