I don't own a suit so I'll be going to these very scary interviews in shirt and tie too. feck it.

    edit: Good Luck though!

This one place wants everything in the health questionnaire, height, weight, name of doctor, wether they can contact my doctor etc, I almost can't be arsed already. 15 minute tour, 30 minute interview with a panel of 4, then a 40minute test.

    christ.

When I was made redundant, I was told specifically not to dwell on that in interviews. Something about putting the interviewer in the wrong frame of mind, and also it'll give them a bit too much to think about - "why you, specifically" and stuff.

I got made redundant in August 2006, company was downsizing, a month later I walked into a job for 10k more, chin up! It might be good .. somehow.

Seriously though, I hope it all works out, it sucks when it happens.

I always interview people in jeans & t-shirt because that's what I wear to work. I'd still expect an interviewee to dress smart (suit or shirt + tie doesn't matter).

For the question about sales jobs in the games industry, you'll need to look at companies that sell to games companies. It won't be a job making games but you will get to visit lots of games companies, which is still kinda cool. They're spread out though, so it's lots of travelling. Check the ads in Edge, Develop mag, Gamasutra, etc, Aardvark, DataScope... it's been a while since I last looked but I assume they still advertise.

Edit: Or you could try the publishers, but I don't know much about them. Visited Warner once and it was full of women with cuddly toys all over their desks. Urgh.

Just had a phonecall, I've been offered x hours pending references and the trial based thing I mentioned. Shows how much I know about my own interviews!

I'm still confident it'll go wrong, lol

lawl, sorry. I just type swear words in not thinking and presume they are automatically censored.

Good luck whatever is happening! (no time to read thread right now)

Thanks for the advice. Ive registered with some sites and uploaded my CV. no harm in trying.

(although all the experience i have working with games is deputy manager in a GAME store, and it looks like you need some sort of entertainment experience!)

So I went down to Asda at midnight tonight with a mate who wanted to pick up PES 2009 for the PS3 (they were doing it for £27) and boy did I have a great time!

We drove up and there were police vans and cars outside, we were like someone must of tired nicked one or something. We get in and there is a queue (of some sorts) with wannabe gangsters at the front causing hassle, crowded around the counter. The police were just standing there though, doing nothing and there must of been about 12 of them!

We get in the queue and are informed thata there are only 12 PS3 and 30 360 copies left. I ask my mate if he wants to go or stay, he says might aswell stay as he is doesn't mind if he gets a PS3 or 360 copy. Anyhow we stand in the so-called queue, police staring at us like we are some sort of criminals or something, all the while doing nothing about the trouble the "gangsters" at the front are causing.

Eventually we get told to move out as the manager has decided to stop selling due the trouble being caused. So we start to move off slowly, I tell my mate I might aswell do some shopping while I'm here. Out of nowhere a copper comes up to us and goes "ok guys time to move it now". I say "Yeah, we are gonna do some shopping mate". He assumes I am lying just so we can hang about and says "What was that?!", in an extremely aggressive manner. I tell I said I wanna do some shopping, there isn't anything wrong that. He insists that if we stay here me and my mate are gonna get ourselves in trouble, like he is threatening us or something! I start to say something but my mate says its not worth it and we walk off.

WTF?! Great help the police are eh?! We weren't even causing any trouble or anything and they come and pick on us yet they don't deal with the actual people who were causing the trouble. Absolutely ridiculous. The whole thing was a shambles anyway, it was just funny watching it. Clearly the Asda staff weren't prepared for the mass of "gamers" and "gangsters".

                    Sounds really messed up.

I remember (a looooong time ago) standing at a bus stop at around midnight in Woolwich town centre looking at the timetable (to see if I'd just missed a bus). A police dog van pulls up alongside me and the copper in the passenger seat leans out of his window and says "You causing trouble?", and look around (a bit suprised) and tell him no, and he says "You'd better not ****ing be or I'll ****ing nick yer". At this point, my mate Andrew says "Nah, he's not causing any trouble, officer", to which the copper says "Shut it, blackie, I wasn't talking to you". Andrew goes to retaliate at the racist remark, but I tell him to leave it and they drive off into the night (to intimidate other young people, I presume).

This was about 20 years ago, but glad to see things haven't changed much.

I bought Linger in the Shadows the other day and my PSN account must be linked to my old account, I've been charged £27 for going overdrawn

i had a Police car drive past me and a mate at around 30mph and he pulled up about 100 metres in front of us, as we walked past he asked us why we made a face at him

we stated we didnt and then he hit us with a rant about the younger generation and how we dont uphold the law and put police officers on a pedestal, where they belong

i had a wee rant back about going to 2 wars for this country, he told us to go on our way and to be careful in future with regards to pulling a face at a police officer
