Glad you didn't have to resort to bringing the heat. Also glad that we have a porch and no letter box in the main door!

The only window we ever leave open is on the 3rd floor. If anyone can get into that then fair play. We had some guys come to repair a tile on the roof today and even they couldn't get up there.

This is disgusting, & if I'd caught the little feckers that did it I know where I'd be sticking those arrows!:

I really REALLY do not understand why anyone needs to own a crossbow.

If you do archery, I've got two normal bows myself.

                  Yeah, but a crossbow?

                    Wow.

I had a look at my girlfriend's laptop earlier as it was not powering on. Thing is, she took it to one of those independent PC repair places a couple of weeks ago and it took them that long to "fix" the problem, which they did (to my shock) by crudely fitting a new power socket into the laptop itself, by drilling a hole in the laptop and sticking a new socket in. (Apparently the existing one was frying the power pack.)

I have never, ever seen anything like that done to a laptop (or a PC for that matter) and was surprised she paid money for it. Of course, after a couple of days, it stopped working, which suggests that the new socket didn't actually do anything and the laptop was running from the remaining power left in the battery.

I went back to the shop with her this time because from what she told me, it sounded like they were fobbing her off (probably thought she was just "some girl" on her own and they could just tell her any old nonsense). Also, being that I work in IT, I wanted to find out exactly what they were doing. When I got there, the guy seemed a bit more careful when he realised she had someone with her who knew what was going on and promised to have the problem looked at by tomorrow. I really wanted to tear him a new one about the new power socket but I didn't get a chance (and my girl didn't want me to be "too harsh").

The most shocking thing of all though was the prices they had on offer. Really basic routine stuff from £40. These places must really rely on the fact that a lot of people don't know IT basics and really milk it for all it's worth. Bloody cowboys.

Worst thing of all though is the fact that their procrastination has made her 2 weeks late on assignments due in at the end of the week (she's a student).

lol, IT cowboys ftw. I should try that sort of thing at work

So what happened on the forum last Friday? Just noticed we hit record number of people online!

I have no idea why so many people would have been around last Friday. It didn't seem any busier than normal.

SuperDanX's thread on Kick Ass Action Movies lead me to this page about underrated Raimi films.

I looked at Play.com's listing of the Quick and the Dead, hoping there'd be a Raimi commentary, but special features are listed as:
                          • Interactive Menus
                          • Scene Access
I hate it when DVDs have these listed as "special features"! Surely this is standard for the DVD format?! The menus would be pretty useless if they weren't interactive!

You don't get CDs listed as "special edition" because you can skip to the track you like! Books don't list the contents page as an interactive menus or the ability to use a bookmark as chapter selection!

                          Raaaargh!

                            The 10 breakfast!

Mario's Cafe in Westhoughton do a big breakfast for ?10! Eat it all in 20 mins without a drink to wash it down with and you get it free!

It's 10 eggs, 10 bacon, 10 sausage, 10 toast, 5 black puddings, tomatoes, beans and mushrooms.

For anyone fancying the challenge, the address is:

                            67 Market St
                            Westhoughton, Bolton, BL5 3AG
If it wasn't for the 10 slices of toast, I'd have a go at taking that on in 20 mins.

omg that looks amazing, I'd take my sweet time with it though, I can't imagine eating it in 20mins.

Plus I don't think I'd enjoy black pudding.
