Going to ice hockey game on Saturday night! Dunno anything about the sport though, should be a laugh.

Company I work for is making significant cuts due to its rapidly losing business, I was advised on Monday my job was safe, but today Ive been told thats not the case and I am in fact being made redundant. Not totally unexpected, almost half of the company has gone already. Still, whats daytime TV like these days?

Second time Ive been made redundant, last time worked out really well so Im hoping things will be ok this time round too. Im more experienced and also qualified than before, of course the worry is the amount of competition for places will be greater than it was. If I could find somewhere closer to home so that I can avoid the whole commute into central London Id jump at the chance.

Mr redundancy moved me from a job 3 minutes from my house to one that now takes me 90 minutes. Each way.

Overall a better job through so no bitching. Well, not much.

I went to see an ice hockey game when I was in the US recently, and was hugely disappointed by the lack of fights. Any potential rucks are jumped on very quickly by officials, so the best hope of violence you've got is seeing someone get taken out by a decent check.

Who'd you see? It is annoying when officials jump in to split up fights, and can be more dangerous than letting the players duke it out. There's a streak of **** lobby group in the ice hockey community desperate to outlaw fighting and even most forms of checking. When that happens, it'll become a pussy sport, like football is now.

Kings vs Blackhawks - we were up in the 'Bulls Super Suite' too, awesome view of the game, plenty of space to walk around, decent free food and free bar too

The no fighting aspect would have been a bit disapointing but free food and drink must have helped.

Best of the three to watch. You may see a fight but the league has been watered down so much. As has hockey all over, even the mega tough Quebec league.

Sweet. Let you know how it goes then. They are mid league playing low league Newcastle so hopefully they'll win and it'll be a good atmosphere.
