Swiper, no swiping!

It bugs me that Swiper doesn't seem to have any reason for swiping. Does he have a family to feed and he can't get a job? A drug habit? Is he just a kleptomaniac?

They haven't yet shown that in an episode but I think Dora has a baby sibling so that's probably coming up in an episode.

Here's something you may or may not find interesting about Swiper. I was speaking with a researcher involved in the creation of the show. The show very much wanted to promote awareness and acceptance of Latin American culture and Spanish language, as I'm sure is obvious. They wanted positive role models for young Latino children who were underrepresented on US television.

Well, they did research after the fact about which characters different demographics aspired to being on the show. You can see where this is going, can't you?

One character was the most popular choice for young Latino boys, the one character they wanted to be in the whole show -
