No they can't, it's blatent libel. The Wikipedia foundation is liable for it too even though they didn't sanction it to be written, although there is a possible defence available to them, and the courts are slowly coming around to the idea that internet entities cannot always control what people publish through their systems.

And sorry for sounding like a utopian hippy for teh second time today but it's also shame that people choose to abuse Wikipedia in this way.
