Having writen for ntsc-uk for six-odd years, 1000 words is really very little to get across a point. I guess it depends on how much you care about the subject.

50,000 does sound like a good challenge though. I might be up for that. Having read their website though...
It's all about quantity, not quality.
I could just right "I hate fish" 1666.66 times and pass the test.

I must say, since starting this I’ve quickly grown a new understanding on word counts and limits, and 1000 or even 10,000 is not as long as it sounds; especially when its not being forced onto you.

I’ve started entering several forums monthly writing competitions, and trying to find more, and the word limit is often 1000 words, which is good for reading but a cripplingly short space to write a story or feature on something. This is part of the exercise for me though. The monthly competitions are helping me choose my words, the Nanowrimo challenge should help me use them.

And if you do write I hate fish 1667 times your only cheating one person. And it’s not Arnold Rimmer. (edit: or was that I am a fish. Need to watch Red Dwarf again)

I am a fish, SIX HUNDRED TIMES, did a funny little dance and fainted.

        Yes?

The air vent I was sat under on the tube this morning decided it'd be fun to shower me and the guy sat next to me in rain that'd presumably leaked through. Ideal start to the day when you're already in a foul mood. A woman sat across was clearly very amused by it all, hope you have a nice day too.

Yeah, that sounds like it. Unfortuantly that wouldnt make the 50,000 word contest though.

I'd imagine thats the least of your worries of all the things you could catch on the tube!

Some ebay sod is pissing me about with a tracking number. It's taken 5 days worth of emails to actually get the number from him but he 'forgot' to say what company it is or the website I can use to bloody track it.

Any one any idea who uses this format to track?
                    RA123456789HK

Don't know what RA is, HK at the end is where it's come from and the nine digits in beteween have obviously been changed by me.

If you can keep the irony up for 50,000 words I think you're onto a winner!

Brilliant, thanks a lot, I had tried googling but should have tried RA#########HK. Says it's left HK on Jan 4th but the UK end has no record of it yet

I'm so angry right now, found the details for my delivery and it says delivered on the 8th Jan (Tuesday). Name on the electronic proof of delivery is Mike Ward. No other details at all, not even the time. Now I'm not Mike Ward, I haven't had a card through my door to say it was delivered or where it was left. None of my neighbours are called Ward and no-ones had it delivered.

I finally managed to get through to an actual person at Royal Mail and all she could say was "well it's lost so get the sender (in Hong Kong) to submit a lost claim".

Can't believe how crap Royal Mail (or individual employees) can be, there is literally no case where a card through my door to tell me where it is isn't needed. Idiots.
