I wouldn't mind seeing Anderson fight James Toney at 205lbs.

This is the one fight where I?m actually more interested in the pre-fight smack talk than the fight itself. ;p

I'm not too sure Toney would stand any chance against Silva to be honest. I admit I don't know much about Toney's MMA skills, but once he went to the mat, which I imagine would be Silva's intention (to negate his boxing prowess), Toney would be in a world of hurt.

However if he has got a good take down defence, and keeps it to a stand up fight, then he would pose a threat (tho' Silva launching kicks would pose another problem).

Silva/Toney would be an awesome match-up. Silva won't try to take Toney down - instead he'll relish matching his counter-punching against someone with the handspeed and power to really hurt him. Of course Silva will utilise knees, kicks and elbows - but will these extra tools be enough to neutralise the threat of Toney's hands? (If Toney himself comes in looking to use anything except his hands he'll be making a huge mistake.) A superb match-up and one that could mean a loss for Silva.

Match Toney against anyone with superior wrestling and Toney loses nine times out of ten. (By "superior" I mean "top-notch within MMA" rather than "better than Toney's".)

Silva is matched with Sonnen and white has threatened to cut him from the UFC if he does the same pratting about again.

watched a fairly tedious Strikeforce on Bravo last night, was really disappointed in Mousasi who when I saw him before looked amazing but this time got taken down repeatedly by a solid wrestler (King Mo) and seemed quite content to look for up-kicks on his back for 5 rounds, was a poor fight.

also a quick reminder that Five US are showing the latest UFC TUF on saturday evenings, Chuck v Tito ortiz this season.

I know Mousasi kept getting taken down, but he still managed to do a ton of damage from his back - Mo’s face was a mess at the end of the fight. Should have been a draw imo.

Thanks for the heads up. I noticed the other day channel 5 (uk) has also started running a few of the older UFC events.

I think they’re trying to match Toney up with Couture.

Still, Silva v Toney might happen eventually, seeing how Silva wants to fight a boxer and he has six or seven fights on his contract.

Mousasi/Lawal was a strange one. In a funny way I felt like Mousasi was cruising - he made no effort at takedown defence at all, and as you said he created some of the best offence off the bottom I've seen. Perhaps he thought Mo's wrestling is so good that there'd be no point wasting energy trying to stuff his takedowns. I was expecting to see more offence on the feet from Mousasi, though. Lawal is still extremely one-dimensional but he stuck to his strengths, so fair play.

I feel like takedowns by themselves are given too much weight in US MMA judging. Perhaps its because there's no modern tradition of wrestling in the UK, but I just don't see a successful takedown (in isolation) as that important. Takedowns leading to damage should score big, certainly.

Sonnen/Silva will be an excellent fight, for the three minutes or so before Sonnen gets KTFO'ed. (I think he's a good fighter but Silva has beaten similar, better, smothering wrestlers before.)

got a few answers in the UFC last night, namely what will happen when 'Semtex' got taken to the floor, is Kimbo and good and was the first result fair between Rua & Machida ?

Rua looked awesome, really up for it and in no mood to leave it to the judges, I thought Machida looked really lethargic from the off and adn Rua was so quick he couldn't fend him off.

Didn't like Koscheck's antics with the phantom knee but he really did a number on a pretty limited Daly. Recall Koscheck doing something similar a while back claiming fingers in the eyes that nobody could see.

didn't realise only 3 wks til Rampage v Evans.

                  My thoughts on UFC 113:

Kimbo needs to call it a day. He's too old and set in his ways to change his style, which, in this game, will get found out straight away. He was running on empty after the 1st round. Will always be a crowd puller tho'.

Daley - yes he has knockout power, no, he does'nt seem to have a ground game. And the after the final bell incident did him no favours what so ever. I'm thinking he lost it due to having no look-in throughout the fight.

As for Koscheck (sp?) - this is the 2nd time he's been found out with regards to feigning injury. Surely the rules need tightening up, perhaps point deduction for such shenanigans.

Rua - Happy he won it in such style. I thought he won the first encounter tbh.

Dana White nailed Kimbo a while back when he said he'd always be the toughest guy at a bar-b-q, Kimbo seems a lovely bloke but he's far too limited for top flight MMA, Mittrione was wide open and gassed himself from quite early but Kimbo had nothing to offer beyond wild haymakers from quite short arms.

Koscheck admits he said stuff to Daley thru the fight but doesn't excuse a cheap shot after the bell. To the refs credit the point deduction was put back on when they viewed a replay and it didn't effect the outcome at all, still you don't want to see diving in MMA.

I wasn't surprised Rua won but how bad he made Machida look, he got totally taken apart and looked a bit out of shape to me (by MMA fighter standards not my own of course)

Decent PPV. I didn't think Shogun would dominate in that fashion. I thought it would be way closer.

Kimbo probably wont fight again according to Dana and Daley has been released from the UFC. Hate Koscheck but Daley was completely mental to do what he did "He will never fight in the UFC again" and he didnt even land a nice punch

Emperor, haha. He lost to a UFC reject who was cherry picked for him. He should have just gone to the UFC. He would have still lost, but got a lot more money and a lot better exposure.

I have to ask - why exactly do you hate Fedor so much? You simply can't let an opportunity for bashing him go past. Did he steal your parking space? Perhaps he keeps you awake with inconsiderate DIY projects late at night? Maybe he had an affair with your wife? I was disappointed that he didn't sign for the UFC too, but you can't argue with the man's legacy and achievements - one loss (to a two-time ABDCC champion) doesn't change anything. Even your idol Brock Lesnar has lost. Werdum went 2-2 in the UFC and beat some quality opposition; he's hardly a reject.
