- Delete all unwanted apps
- Manually remove unwanted services
- Full bootup clean and repair with F-Secure
- Full bootup clean and repair with Symantec
- Checked IP addresses & website used by scammers and pointed these to 127.0.0.1 in the lmhosts file
- Reset all firewall rules to requested permission before opening ports
- Ran full deep scan of PC with Symantec AV
- Ran wireshark several times over period of 2-3 weeks to see what traffic was going across her net. Nothing bad.
- Day after I fixed it they called her saying there was a "Problem with her PC again" this time they didn't get her help!
- She informed her bank and changed all CC details she owns.
- Changed all windows/email passwords
But the simple fact of the matter is that one poor son miles away is not as clever as a well funded scam organization that uses zero day weaknesses in Windows and social engineering.
Thus I would never dare say she is "virus free" but did my best until I get someone to sit at the PC and get a windows install far enough to get my preferred Remote Control soft installed.
Sadly she called me too long after it happend (guilt) and the system restore was too old.
That's pretty much all I could do, but it's many years since I worked in support (Like 13-14 years) so I may have missed something.

Spooky
Getting a static discharge in my ear canal due to my loose headphone cable jack making contact with a radiator in one of the carpeted areas of where I work. Not a good feeling. Most definitely irked.

Blah blah
I had to download Hijack This! in safe mode, rename it so that I could access it, go through the startup registry and manually delete suspicious lines, and wipe out everything dodgy with malwarebytes. What a nightmare.

Bloody students have moved in next door. Their fire alarm goes off twice every evening cos theyre smoking in their kitchen, so then have to go outside, which I have discovered is not cigarettes but hash, so it stinks everytime I come home at night.
Then 1 of the f*ckers was hammering our door at 1.30 am yesterday. I went to answer it & he's bladdered & begins crossing threshold, to which I held the bast back & asked him what the hell he was doing. He thought it was his house. I told him no, yours is next door, but he still insisted on coming in. I had to push that f*cker back out the door & tell him VERY sternly the he's got the wrong house.
Wn*nkers!!

It's not just the noise though is it. I have lived near student and the mess they make is incredible. Sheffield is a nightmare, they need more halls for them to live in. They keep increasing the amount of students at uni's but rarely think about where they will live. This is why so many people have issues with them.
