    In fact (while I'm here) technology in general.

    What the hell is wrong with the people who design stuff where new tech actually removes features or makes them worse? Take my stupid house phone - at some point a person though it would be a good idea to allow built in answer phones to screen calls. All good so far. Then they decided that, despite coming with multiple handsets, you can only screen from one phone at a time.

    So rather than allow each handset to play audio you can only do it one at a time. The thing came with four handsets, did they think you'd want to run around the house from where ever you were to get to a point where you could hear the message being played?

    On it's own I guess I could live with that, but then some utter `genius` (in the same sense that someone who works in the Apple store is apparently a genius) decided that each individual handset would keep its own call log.

    Which means out of four handsets every... single... one... will log each missed call so you have to go around and clear them manually to avoid being caught out by thinking someone's rung when it's actually a call from two days ago.

    Absolutely bloody useless.

      My wife had a stinker of a cold over the weekend, and now my daughter has it. I have had a Rock Band party planned for the weekend for months now. There is a horribile inevitability that that cold is going to hit me on Friday/Saturday

        I what you mean. Somone told me the best advice is to take **** loads of Vitamin C. Boots do some own brand tablets that are fairly cheap and are something like 1,000% of RDA. I done it the last two times my daughter got a cold and I didn't catch it.

        Old wives tale? Maybe, but might be worth a punt?

            If your diet is a bit pap, then boosting the vitamin C levels is a good idea, but if you eat heathily and get a decent amount in your normal fruit and veg, then it won't make much difference. Regular exercise will boost the immune system more.

            However, it depends where your fruit and veg is all sourced from. Vitamin C levels in fruit starts dropping fast after being picked and especially with exposure to air after being picked (due to normal oxidation). Tests on fruit near the center of packing crates showed much higher levels of Vitamin C than those around the edge, some of which (after 1 week from being picked) had zero vitamin C. If you get your stuff from the farm shop which grows their own, you are probably getting much more nutritional items.

              I took a multi vitamin tablet this morning with my breakfast, and I'm going to get some fresh Orange Juice from the shop to try and get some extra 'C' into the system.

              I may look into the tablets as well as although my diet isn't too bad I likely could do with a boost, as I seem to eat less fruit in the colder weather, and as such have been only eating dried fruit lately.

                I hate it when I go to fart, but then a huge spray of running **** comes out instead. This happened to me at lunch time and I've had to sit here Commando style the whole afternoon.

                I can usually detect them and hold it back before too much comes out, but this time it was a right mess.

                    Taking too much vitamin C in pill form = kidney stones.

                    Whatever Vitamin C the body doesn't use, simply gets pissed out, if there's too much, you start to get deposits building up in the kidney.

                          You have to take mega amounts before that starts happening though. You're more likely to get warning signs like stomach pains before that anyway.

                          Kidney stones are horrible. If taking more than a recommended daily amount caused that, I doubt tablets with 1,000% of RDA would be allowed over the counter.

                              Freaky. Some guys at work were talking about vitamin C yesterday. It was about some man who took 2-3000mg per day and lived to some old age like 98.

                              I also thought the rda for vit C was probably intentionally low in case people tried to go overboard
